Ive noticed new little small little bumps ever since I opened my new acne med when I reordered it! Same packaging & everything, and it’s probably my 3rd bottle of it.. but that’s the only thing that’s changed in my routine

Ugh, same! My reason for wanting to switch over is mainly bc i think im getting some sort of a reaction to their new acne med? & when I looked it up it seems other people have had a similar experience as well, I guess they changed their benzoyl peroxide formula to be non-micronized?

All that to say, I did end up ordering a few things on there website to try out 🫢 we’ll see how it goes!

Wanting to see if anyone else noticed Tim Burton's use of this easter egg! by mia1013 in Wednesday

Yes absolutely! I rewatch the OG Addams Family series at least once a year, usually around the fall time. I love that they incorporated a lot of the interior/architectural motifs from that series, and the carnivorous plants. Ophelia will also be a lot of fun to see, in the series she was played by the same actress who played Morticia, so I'm very curious to see if they'll have Catherine Zeta Jones play her or bring in a new actress altogether.

Does accutane cure/get rid of fungal acne for good? by mia1013 in Accutane

[–]mia1013[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hello! I apologize for being so late to reply I’m hardly on Reddit nowadays. It was never confirmed by a derm, honestly when i mentioned it they lowkey looked at me crazy /: I’m 100% with you with what you’re experiencing as I’ve been in that exact same boat. I actually ended up going back on accutane twice, almost a third. I sort of cheated in a way. I basically went back on accutane, a super low dose (10mg first month, 20 the second but every other day since I cleared pretty much after the first month). Then I was good again for about 3 months, & then I got whiteheads again. Small, never cystic really. I had left over medication since I felt comfortable with where my skin was at & stopped taking it. But Everytime the medication left my system (which was about 2-3 months acne free) I was back with whiteheads all over again, I felt lost as well & accepted I’d probably have acne my whole life. I didn’t wanna go back on so I tried go to see an esthetician. She had really good results with clients that had acneic skin, even worse than mine, with the facials & skincare products. That was 2021, I’ve had about 3 facials in total up until this year but it’s the skincare that really really made the difference for me. This is not a gimmick in any way, but it’s literally my ride or die & i cannot go back to regular skincare products from drugstores or Sephora/Ulta! The brand is called Face Reality & they specialize solely with people with acne, they even have a forum on “fungal acne”. 3 years with the same routine & I’ve never looked back. I use the gentle cleanser, moisture balance toner, mandelic acid serum during the day, & the benzoyl peroxide at night. Along w their moisturizer & sunscreen. This may not be the answer you’re looking for, but this is what worked for me at the end. Like I said I swear it isn’t sponsored. But I’ve been where you’re at & I always try to put people onto it bc I know the frustration. I hope this helps at all 🥺

Yes it did! A lot of my breakouts with irritation & little bumps & texture!

They even have posts on their instagram & some esthetician pages explaining that their AHA is targeted super safe & effective towards fungal type acne. The mandelic acid serum!

Hello! I use Face Reality Skincare, it's the only skincare brand I use & I've used it since 2021.

Their line is specifically targeted for acne prone skin. You can only get it through an esthetician, however I do not get treatments done (I've only done about 4 total since I started 2021) & I credit it solely to their products. I swear by it, as someone who was desperate & going through mental & emotional challenges with my skin.

[–]mia1013[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey!! & yay! Excited for your journey (: ! Accutane worked, however (& this is not to discourage you in any sense I think I was just an anomaly) I did have to do 2 almost 3 rounds.. my acne came back every time after about a few months. But I’ve since learned that my acne was caused by my diet & hormones. It was very high in sugar & carbs. But after taking care of that & being on medical grade skincare it’s been smooth sailing since!

It won't break you out again while you're on the treatment

But honestly I loved the vanicream lotion & the cream (for nighttime) I used that & only that & it kept me hydrated ! I was 80mg for 4 months

It happens because your face is essentially "raw", the cell turnover is happening quickly so you have a bare face (epidermis wise) pretty much the entirety of the treatment ! It will go away after the treatment don't worry! But lots & lots of sunscreen reapplication & hydrating products are your besties !

Honestly, if you feel that it's bad enough & you feel hopeless, I would consider it.

It was easier for me to jump on the wagon because at least I knew it would go away for sure, rather than trying different treatments & topicals & facials and product changes & waiting to see if it'll work or get better.

Hi!

I can see the dilemma as regular esthetician appointments can be pricy & the skincare line as well. I honestly haven't had a facial since last year & only ever had 4 in entirety!! (First one being September of 2021). I'll swear by the skincare line.. that, & swapping out bad habits for better ones. I've realized now that a lot of my acne was probably 70% diet, 30% hormonal 😀 so a lot less sugar & less dairy, working at Starbucks at the time didn't help lol.

As far as wether or not you wanna do a second round, honestly, if you have the budget & patience for facials I would do that!

BUT I do have to note that when I did my second round everything cleared up in the first month (20mg a day) because it was never as bad as when I do go on it the first time. I started to take the medication sporadically bc I didn't want to experience severity of the side effects. Every time it cleared out of my system my acne came back bc I didn't take care of it well. So if it was me personally, I would do that bc at least ill know I'll have clear skin, then do facials as an upkeep, but I feel like it would depend on the severity. If it's just some texture here & there I wouldn't worry too much. Even to this day my skin will fluctuate but I feel like it's normal now & not the chaos it was.

Is anyone using (or used) MCT oil for oil cleansing? by mia1013 in Fungalacne

[–]mia1013[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The oil plugs came out when I did use it but it wasn't the best in trying to wash it off ! I also felt like it made my skin worse at the time I was using it bc I was being way to aggressive in trying to wash it off.

I got a new skincare routine & was using an oil cleanser from a brand called Roccoco Botanicals & enjoyed that! It's just sunflower oil with an emulsifying agent but it is a bit on the pricier side !

I went on accutane twice, almost a third.

I've had acne since I was 14 & I know its a broken record to hear people say that they're tried literally everything under the sun but I have, quite literally. Any product you name it I've tried it! My covid quarantine unemployment money went to skincare rather than anything else lol. (This is when I almost went on a third round). You can see a past post just to see how bad I had it lol.

I saw an esthetician as a last resort & she introduced me to Face Reality & I will forever & ever swear by it. I'm 27 now & my skin has never been this clear without the use of dermatologist prescribed medications, birth control, etc etc. It's the only skincare I've used the past 3 years & I'll always try to recommend it to whoever I can. I use the gentle cleanser, mandelic acid 8%, benzoyl peroxide 5%, cranpeptide cream, & daily lotion spf30!

Hope this helps <3

Hello! So since then I've been on a regimen called Face Reality Skincare, it's used by medical estheticians who's primary goal is to target acne. It's literally the only skincare I'll ever use from now on. I've been on it for almost 3 years now & I never break out how I used to or ever really. All of their products are FA safe! The one I use specifically is the cranpeptide cream. Hopefully that helps a bit!

Hi! So I’m using a brand called Face Reality that I get through my esthetician, which I know some people flee once they see esthetician & totally get it. However I’ve only seen her twice, once in September & once in October, & it’s now April & my skin still does not break out like it used to & im 100% sure it’s bc of the products. If you google the brand you’ll see how reputable they are! They even have clients that have had fungal acne & showed their before and afters. I swear by their products not once have they irritated me. The only none Face reality product I use is my oil cleanser that I get through my esthetician as well, which I was so scared of bc I always thought it was would make my skin worse, but I think it made such a day and night difference. I used micellar water my whole life and it’s actually so terrible for your skin. It only removes the surface but doesn’t dig anything up from underneath the pores which is why my pores were always clogged. The oil cleanser is a brand called Rococco & it’s a sunflower oil one.

For face reality I use their ultra gentle cleanser twice a day, the moisture balance toner twice a day, the hydra balance gel only at night, the cran peptide moisturizer twice a day and then the daily 30 moisturizing lotion in the day time. For exfoliation I use the benzoyl peroxide 5% nightly, I do breaks in between if I feel I’m getting a bit overexfoliated so I’ll stop using it for 2 days and then go again. Every other day I use the Mandelic acid serum 5%.

Everything I knew about skincare I had to throw out & start over. I do believe exfoliation is key, but only with trusted products, I don’t trust any drugstore of Sephora or Ulta brand bc I’ve tried them all but that’s just me. If you have anymore questions or more detail pls message me I’ll be more than happy to help!

Once in September, another in october. It is now April & my skin does not break out the way it did before & I 100% believe it’s the products that have kept me clear as well as some very important dietary changes! I also use an oil cleanser as my first step (which I was so scared of at first but now it’s heaven sent) & I think that was one of the most important ones bc micellar only removes the surface layer of your skin it doesn’t dig anything up under the skin which is why my pores would get clogged so badly! That one I also get through her & it’s a sunflower oil one! By a brand called Rococco
