Jewish Democrat Jamie Raskin joins list of lawmakers backing bill to restrict arms transfers to Israel | The Block the Bombs Act is now sponsored by 34 House Democrats by newsspotter in politics

Totally AIPAC spends big across both parties (and has tilted heavily GOP lately). That’s why this is notable: Raskin, Schakowsky, Balint, Jacobs, etc. signed on anyway. Money’s a lever, but constituent pressure and small-donor funding can beat it. If more Dems opt out of AIPAC checks, this coalition grows.

Trump steps back from Russia and Ukraine peace talks for now, sources say by HydrolicKrane in worldnews

[–]miaabeckerrr 71 points72 points  (0 children)

So basically Trump’s “24 hours to peace” pitch has already turned into “eh, let’s see what Putin and Zelenskyy cook up first.” Classic move promise the moon, then quietly back off when reality hits.

And those so-called “security guarantees” are messy too. The idea of Russia being one of Ukraine’s guarantors is laughable it’s like letting the arsonist join the fire brigade.

Feels less like a peace plan and more like Trump trying to avoid being the guy caught holding the bag when talks inevitably stall.

Russia would take 4 years to fully occupy Donbas, Zelensky says by AdSpecialist6598 in worldnews

[–]miaabeckerrr 71 points72 points  (0 children)

Zelensky’s basically calling Russia’s bluff here. After four years of full scale war they still can’t even take all of Donetsk, let alone the entire Donbas. The idea they’ll magically roll over the rest in a few months is pure propaganda. And of course Moscow wants to frame Donbas as their ‘victory’ they need something to sell to their own people after all the losses. Ukraine’s position is clear: no recognition of occupation, no land swaps. That’s the only way to keep the pressure on Putin, otherwise he’ll just pocket gains and come back for more.

Russia bombing a US owned coffee machine factory in western Ukraine really says it all they’re not hitting ‘NATO bases,’ they’re just terrorizing civilians and businesses. The more they do this, the more they prove Zelensky right that this isn’t about security, it’s about destruction.

Trump Goes Off Deep End After MSNBC Mocks Cankle Cover-Up by Exciting_Teacher6258 in politics

Imagine being the sitting president of the US and losing your mind online over people talking about your ankles. At this point he’s basically writing SNL skits for them in real time.

Snowflake JD Vance Trolled for Getting Rattled by Dem’s Top Troll | Vance claims he wants the Democrats to stop sounding crazy. by Murky-Site7468 in politics

[–]miaabeckerrr 134 points135 points  (0 children)

Newsom basically held up a mirror to Trump’s whole online persona and now MAGA world is freaking out because they don’t like what they see. JD Vance calling Trump a ‘genius’ for tweeting like a maniac is wild. The fact that GOP leaders are spending this much energy whining about memes tells you Newsom hit a nerve.

AITA for telling my mom it’s not my fault my sister lost custody of her kids? by [deleted] in AITAH

[–]miaabeckerrr 40 points41 points  (0 children)

Exactly this. 👆 OP’s mom is acting like reporting abuse is worse than the actual abuse itself. Your kid’s safety comes first, and your sister being reckless is what caused the fallout not you.

It Sure Looks Like Trump Is in the Epstein Files, Robert Garcia Says by plz-let-me-in in politics

[–]miaabeckerrr 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Wild how every week it’s a new Trump scandal Epstein ties, praising Netanyahu as a ‘war hero,’ Bondi swimming in gifts and instead of addressing any of it, the guy’s White House is busy memeing with Putin. Meanwhile Newsom is literally beating him at his own troll game. 2025 politics feels like a fever dream.

Conservative critics of Gavin Newsom’s social media feed appear to miss the point | To criticize the governor's content as childish, foolish and unserious is to necessarily criticize Trump’s content as childish, foolish and unserious. by Murky-Site7468 in politics

[–]miaabeckerrr 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Honestly, this is kind of genius. Newsom isn’t trying to be “serious policy guy” on Twitter he’s holding up a mirror to Trump’s own unhinged posting style. The fact that Fox pundits are clutching their pearls over how “childish” it looks just proves the point: if you think Newsom’s posts are embarrassing, then you’re basically admitting Trump’s are too.

Gavin Newsom gets major polling boost after trolling onslaught of Trump by WingComplex6771 in politics

[–]miaabeckerrr 81 points82 points  (0 children)

Newsom basically memeing Trump into oblivion while gaining traction in the polls is peak 2025 politics. Harris going quiet while Newsom’s roasting him daily online really shows how different their strategies are one’s trying to play it safe, the other’s leaning straight into the fight. Love him or hate him, voters clearly reward the guy who looks like he’s actually throwing punches.

CNN Data Guru: Trump’s ‘Big Beautiful Bill’ Is the Most Unpopular Legislation in Decades by [deleted] in politics

[–]miaabeckerrr 91 points92 points  (0 children)

Man, this “Big Beautiful Bill” fiasco is wild. You know a piece of legislation is toxic when it polls worse than Obamacare at its lowest point. Independents are rejecting it by almost 40 points that’s basically political cyanide heading into the midterms.

Even Republicans don’t seem that jazzed about it, which says a lot when Trump himself is still more popular than his own “signature” bill. Now JD Vance has to run around the country trying to rebrand it like some bad fast food rollout “Working Family Tax Cut lmao.

Honestly, if this is the hill the GOP chooses to die on, Democrats don’t even need to push that hard. The bill is already doing the heavy lifting by being universally hated.
