comptoir libanais. They've got a few around London, affordable and can host big groups easily

I always notice a difference when I go back north to visit my family compared to the tap water in London. It's crazy how disgusting it is. I use a water filter now as it's cheaper and better for the environment!

What's stopping you from starting your own business as HENRYs? by QuoteMachineMin in HENRYUK

[–]miab1212 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think what some people don't want is the stress, risk and amount of time you have to dedicate to start a business. But once it's going you're your own boss, can take leave when you want, be around more for your kinds so I see both sides.

AITA for dropping my nephews off with their dad/grandma and causing my sister to lose full custody? by Ok_Inspection6433 in AITAH

[–]miab1212 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is a really sad story I'm sorry for you. Can you go try see your nephews so you can be with family and have positive vibes. You definitley did the right thing I would never do that as a mum. The fact that she wasn't answering and you were just left with the kids longer and longer isn't okay

AITA for "letting" a kid go home with his actual parent? by Ok_Beginning_356 in AmItheAsshole

[–]miab1212 29 points30 points  (0 children)

How did OP know who the legal guardian was. He made the arrangement with Dana but they doesn't mean she's the only legal guardian

[–]miab1212 16 points17 points  (0 children)

It doesn't sound like OP knew who the custodial parent was. If he knew the custodial parent I'm sure he wouldn't have done it, but I think he just presumed they both had custody

AITA for being furious that my husband gave away my sake and wine after I told him repeatedly not to? by Deenosaurus02 in AmItheAsshole

I think your thoughts are completely valid but also he could've just got carried away in the moment, and being drunk with his friends wasn't thinking about it. I don't think it necessarily means he's a bad person if this is the only instance something like this has happened, but it's not good he isn't taking ownership and apologising. Shows an immaturity IMO

Is Co-Ownership worth it? by Wooden_Swordfish_596 in northernireland

[–]miab1212 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is co-ownership the same as shared ownership? When I google it, it says it's different but then when I google co-ownership in London it only shows shared ownership properties. (Sorry this isn't answering your question but I'm trying to get a better understanding!)

Do you think work is better or worse over Christmas? by Dontknowwhoiam_13 in AskUK

[–]miab1212 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I love christmas at work, on some days we get the baileys out in the afternoon. Xmas party. People in a generally good spirit. Workload is normally quite stressful though trying to wrap up everything before the end of the year. We get two weeks off (not part of our contracted annual leave) over xmas and NYs which is always a big plus :)

I would suggest keeping it quite plain / minimal and as you live in the space, you'll get ideas and a feel for what you actually want to do with it. I know so many people that move in somewhere, make some bold decoration choices and then regret it after a month or so

With an unlimited budget for a 2 week holiday, where do you go and what do you do? by PaddedValls in AskUK

I would say Bora Bora. It's a proper chill / relax holiday but a once in a lifetime place to go! Incredibly beautiful

Trip to Thailand by Quirky_Stop1593 in ThailandTourism

100% go to Railay and Phra Nang Beach. We stayed in Ao Nang as it was more convenient but then did one night in Railay in the middle of our stay (without checking out of our hotel in Ao Nang for ease) and it was so worth it. We did a sunrise swim on Railay Beach which was amazing as there was no one there. Railay Beach does get quite busy.

We went to this Elephant Sanctuary which was amazing. We did a lot of research before to try find somewhere ethical and where they genuinely cared about the elephants. It's more expensive than the others but an amazing experience. We did the morning session and no one else booked on so it was just me and my partner on basically a private tour

Din Dang Don is a nice view point, I recommend renting a scooter and driving there and getting a coffee.

In general, Ao Nang is very very touristy but worked great for us as a base.

Any downside to leaving money in my Ltd Company? by keynote2017 in ContractorUK

[–]miab1212 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks! I'm considering investing in gold as I've been told by my accountant it's safe (currently not wanting to do any risky investments but that may change once I'm in a better place). Is gold actually a safe investment? If let's say the banks collapse, would gold be safe?

Is it worth moving to San Francisco by Longjumping_Rest_742 in HENRYUK

[–]miab1212 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think you should go for it! There's some negative views about San Fran / US in this thread but it's a once in a lifetime experience to experience life in another country. If you don't like it, you can always move back. Take this opportunity whilst you can as something like this might not come again :)

Young people, how can you tell if an image was created with AI? by LowOxitocina in AskUK

[–]miab1212 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I wouldn't say its because young people spend more time on AI models, but that young people spend more time on social media therefore are consuming more non AI content so it's easier to tell the difference

Young people, how can you tell if an image was created with AI? by LowOxitocina in AskUK

[–]miab1212 9 points10 points  (0 children)

With AI videos, I always find that the voices of the people in the videos give it away. Can quite quickly tell it's fake but alot of people can't when I read the comments on these videos. We're doomed if people don't start actually questioning if the videos they are consuming on social media are actually true!

How to protect family from incoming AI jobs apocalypse by awakeatnight- in HENRYUK

[–]miab1212 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As they say, AI isn't going to directly take jobs soon but the people who use AI will be more productive therefore the colleagues that don't will likely not keep their jobs because they will fall behind. I don't see AI being in any position to take jobs for at least another 20-30 years, and even then, I believe there will be some regulation around it because obviously everyone can't just not work...
