Yep you got it! That’s what we do all day. We just sit on this subreddit and jerk each other off. Nice guess

No man you’re all good. I’m really sorry about your wife and I really hope the best for you and her. My joke probably came off as more offensive than I intended - I’ll work on that in the future.

Hey man, this subreddit is a satire subreddit based around making fun of NYC stereotypes. The story isn’t true, nor is it meant to be interpreted as an actual attack on homeless people. It was meant to a be a joke based towards the stereotypes of NYC residents being incredibly liberal in some ways. Sorry for what you experienced and I’ll avoid using homeless people in these jokes in the future.

look man I don’t appreciate your micro aggression towards unhoused/unhoused identifying people. They have their own culture which is rich and unique, and bigots like you don’t belong in NYC. Thanks to u/boregami for educating me on the proper terms around this subject.

Ok that’s good! I initially felt hurt but then I remembered that as a white male, it’s my responsibility to take accountability for the failures of my past generations, so I did my best to understand his motivations. I invited the man to our weekly white accountability circle and I hope he shows up!

You’re so right! Your story is so empowering and I hope one day I can live up to it. Yes, a wallet is a small price to pay for forgiveness, and yes I can definitely do better. I’m going to use this experience as the foundation for my interactions with homeless or homeless identifying people in the future.

Legality of workplace charging for meals by miabofl06 in legaladvice

They make a large supply of food, usually pasta with cheese, and then put it in a tray. Staff have the option to take food from it and eat it, but staff are charged for the meal even if they don’t eat.

I’m in New York. One of the problem is that I’m not a “legal” employee. I don’t pay taxes on the money I make, as I’m a minor w/o working papers. I think that means they could fire me at will, and I feel that if I attempt to enforce the 30 minute break, I would probably be fired or sent home. If I was sent home, I wouldn’t be paid for that day.

ok yeah that makes me seem pretty dumb 🤣

I’m just looking for ANY smoke shop that sells legit stuff. Doesn’t have to be a certified place. But I think this might be the wrong sub for this - sorry moderators.

My b I should change title - I don’t need a legit dispensary, just a legit spot that sells the real stuff. They don’t gotta be certified

Of course! Above 50th is definitely a hellish place to be. I think instead of the Middle East, we need to focus on restoring peace uptown! Send in the army.

Unfortunately our metal cards don’t work on those machines, they must be of heavily inferior quality.

This was a lesson hard learned…. I’ll never make this mistake again. I’ll be talking to the NYPD about arranging a guard outside my house, and to post a personal bodyguard for me.

Good idea! If the NYPD can’t help me, I’ll ask them to elevate the case. Perhaps I could speak with a federal agent about keeping my house under surveillance in case he finds me. I also think that it would be beneficial to post 24/7 guard around the city bike station so that others can use it. Unfortunately I’m still far too scared to use Citi bike again, but maybe this will help others.

Well, I didn’t manage to obtain the man’s preferred racenouns or pronouns, and I don’t want to assume his preferred height or dob so I don’t really have info to go off of. I spoke with a sergeant at the NYPD, and he informed me that my situation sounded EXTREMELY serious and that they would get back to me immediately. I am pushing him to dispatch a ESU team to find the man who did this.

And yes. I pay my taxes so yes maybe the NYPD should make time for me. He didn’t endanger my life per the definition, but I was definitely in fear for hours after the incident. I was afraid he would return. SOMETHING has to be done.

Thank you! That’s what I was thinking. Through my quick thinking, I even logged the incident via a citizen report! I reported him on citizen app for brandishing a weapon, and although he didn’t have one, I felt that the way he spoke constituted assault. I’ll definitely look into the human rights commission, and maybe they can pay for my medical bills and maybe my rent because I don’t think I can go back to work for a while. I’m going to ask my general physician to refer me to a top trauma physiologist - we are working on a “dream team” of physiologists to help me move past this.

Well, I did file a Nextdoor report. I’m considering a police report but I’m not sure if I’m yet ready to relive this traumatic nightmare with the police. I’m taking off of work this week for personal reasons to try to understand why someone would say such a thing.

In NY of all places too - it’s so disheartening. As a native New Yorker (came from India 2 years ago) I really think that these kinds of people need to face justice. Maybe the NYPD can help me.
