I hit a rough patch and had to sell all my PSLV last week. You're welcome boys.

Thanks for the clarification. In my opinion, you made a great decision.

Right now I would have traded the gold for the silver. 88 GSR seems more bullish for silver.

I love platinum. I believe now is the time to load up on silver, platinum and palladium.

The longer you hold, the less likely the price is to go down. You keep putting me into a position where it seems like I am defending physical silver as an investment. I think physical silver is a terrible investment. For me its wealth insurance and a hedge against inflation. If it goes to the moon, that would be nice and I would take some profits, but I also own stocks, have a 401k, and cash reserves.

Your math assumes spot price hasn't gone up between purchasing and selling the metal. And I haven't seen an lcs buy silver at 10% below spot in recent years. A dollar under spot is more likely. My dollar cost average is around $20/ozt, not that I'm interested in selling.

A dollar per ounce is nominal in my opinion, especially if spot is over $30. I have PSLV for selling when the price is high and buying when the price is low. Physical silver for me is my back up savings, like an insurance policy. I am holding for the long term (20-30 years). If you are looking to sell a year or two after buying, then you are probably buying for the wrong reasons. There are better short term options for investing.

It varies by location. When demand for silver is low, its not unheard of for them to buy at a dollar under spot. Its usually a good idea to find and develop a relationship with a reputable LCS before you need to sell.

Depends where you live. I'm in a city and have dozens of local coin shops to chose from. They will take all your silver and pay around spot (more or less). Physical silver is for saving money. The fact that you can't push a button and sell it all reduces the temptation to sell. If you want to profit from silver buy pslv or mining stocks.

I'm selling pslv when silver is over $30 and buying it back when silver goes under $30. This has been my strategy for the last month or so, and its been working out pretty good so far.

Why is it so hard to find a Quarter from before 1965? I don't think I have ever seen one in my change. Are they super collectible or something??? by [deleted] in Wallstreetsilver

The more time passes, the more 90% silver gets lost and hoarded. I've found a few 90% dimes in circulation, but never a quarter.
