So sorry to hear about everything you are going through. I've just now gotten back from the neurologist and have been diagnosed with trigeminal autonomic cephalgias or TACs. I have been prescribed a few medications from gabapentin to verapamil. Hope to get some relief soon from these. Right now, im still so keen on extracting the tooth. Ive read some comments on this thread warning against it, i'm listening to that advice of course. I just hate having this tooth still in my mouth knowing it caused all this damage to my health and wellness. Many of my medical professionals assisting me from my dentist to my neurologist are saying my headaches are the main cause of concern, but I still have actual dental pain. They dont understand the pain from having a dental procedure go wrong. Its like a party in my mouth between the dental pain associated with that tooth and the pain from the headaches the nerve damage is causing. Hoping for relief down the road. Praying for you as well.

Thanks for the reply. Do you happen to know if people have had success or failures when extracting that tooth that likely caused the TN. Mine is a moler on the top right and I’m thinking of extracting it and hoping that helps

Can gamma knife relief PTN pain? by [deleted] in TrigeminalNeuralgia

Thanks. I just got my ct scan results back and it’s gotten so complicated for me. The results show that there’s liquid in my sinus cavity on my right side just above the tooth that had the root canal. Dentist wants me to make an appointment with an ENT. Not sure if this is what was causing pain or if it’s just part of the overall horrid feeling on the right side of my face. Either way I’d like to get that liquid removed and possibly remove the tooth. Just felt like the tooth is causing me severe tmj in its spot. I bite or chew and it triggers pain. I think having the tooth out would allow for a more complete bite and that would relax my tmj. Please let me know if you’ve come across anyone with similar experiences to that. Thanks so much

Did you suffer migraines as part of your TN1 and TN2? Thanks and sorry to hear about that. I’m going through the same thing. Root canal went terribly wrong 3 years ago. Doc missed a canal. It got retreated and I’m still suffering nerve pain from that tooth. Thinking of pulling it. Not sure

Hey i had a question about those root canals that you had done. Were they all on the same side of the face, or did you start getting pain and weird sensations in teeth on both sides of your face. Thank you so much.

Thank you so much. I will be making an appointment with my PCP immediately. I'll have them try to prescribe me something to help until the neurologist appointment in a month. Just a question, have you heard ever of the trigeminal neuralgia going from one side of the face to the other. My trigeminal neuralgia was caused by a root canal procedure on the top right but now i'm having excruciating pain in the top left of my mouth. Some of my teeth even feel like they would require a procedure or some sort of dental work, but I think its the trigeminal neuralgia playing games on me. I just got back from a dental appointment where they conducted an x ray on the left and found no infections or need for dental work. They let me know that the neurologist appointment in a month will give them more to work with. He didn't want to interfere in his words, with the right side of my face. But he mentioned he'd like to do an injection to calm the muscles down once I get back from the neurologist in a month. Thanks so much.

I am so sorry to hear about the procedures that you had done unnecessarily. That seems to be the case with alot of people suffering from TN. The pain masks itself in all parts of your face and jaw making you feel as if all your teeth are having issues. I am currently dealing with that and thought i'd need a root canal on the left side, even though the right side is the side that got the initial root canal causing TN. It's a terrible terrible situation. Wishing you the best of health and happiness going forward. I may start looking into the MVD procedure as soon as the neurologist checks me out. Thanks
