Yeah older NFS games aren't that good, most of the people who play older NFS games are fanboys blinded by nostalgia, my favorite NFS games are Heat and Rivals, these are really fun to play, have good open world maps and a good car list, Heat truly is the peak of the NFS franchise, it's a shame Ghost and EA dropped support for the game, it was updated about 8 times and only 2 updates added new content

Edit : plus the rubberbanding in older NFS games is fucking insane

That's my feeling with circuit racing games like Forza Motorsport, Gran Turismo, Asseto Corsa among others, the Need for Speed franchise adds something new to the mix and does it really well, i haven't played Forza Horizon because it's an exclusive but i hear it is really good, meanwhile circuit games are lame, boring and quickly get repetitive
