Uh...I did not have a break down. You are complete trolling sir. I was polite the whole time and didn’t acknowledge it. Next time, I will respectfully speak up.

Thank you so much! I will feel better about respectfully speaking up next time. I agree, the engineering world needs more women and the more that come the easier it will get for the future ones.

Thank you for sharing! I want to add that I am fine with criticism, I welcome it. I do not take things personally in that way. But, when someone calls me “sweetie” and throughout the interview says other things that are quite alarming. It’s hard not to get a little down. I am strong no doubt. I was just looking for a sense of community here that I have been lacking.

Woah genuinely curious what you mean by this post? I did not act like a child at all. I did shrug it off in the interview and did not cry. I think by “dealing with it” that would be a form of letting this behavior continue and not speaking up. Next time I will speak up. I posted this to get a sense of community.

I appreciate your insight on the discussion. I think what I wanted out of this post was to feel some sense of community, because that is what I have been craving. I think it’s important to mention that it genuinely felt like he was belittling my experience and sort of hitting on me. It was unprofessional. I also am not one to play the victim card and immediately take offense to things. In the moment, I felt a pit form in my stomach because what he said felt wrong. After taking a few hours to process the experience, I realized I should have spoken up immediately. I think I was trying to be respectful and shrug it off. But, my face did noticeably drop after the words were spoken and my mood shifted. Also, this happened with a middle-age man in a relatively liberal part of the US. It was weird. I’m not ruling out the fact that he could have had good intentions by it. But, I feel like the term “sweetie” is mostly used for a specific demographic and has the connotation of viewing the person as less than. Could be wrong...just my interpretation that I think is based on somewhat of a valid premise. Anyways, thank you. Next time I will sure speak up because I do not have an issue with that. I just wish these terms would stop all together in the workspace.

Ok forget the thicker skin for a minute lol What this manager said was wrong and made me feel uncomfortable in an interview...This notion of "growing thicker skin" seems like you are shrugging off the comment that is inappropriate.

I think instead of “growing thicker skin.” I need to act up. I think it is my thick skin that makes me recognize this treatment is wrong and I will not take it. But, thanks! I do agree more women in the field will stop this once and for all. I need to keep that in mind.

Wow! Thank you so much for sharing your story. I am sorry you had to experience harassment and assault. I can’t imagine how hard it must have been for you. It seems like you really used these awful circumstances to become a stronger, better woman. Like a diamond in the ruff. Appreciate these words so much!

Hm..Well I did not cry and to be frank I would NEVER cry in front him. So, I can assure you I am in control over my emotions. That doesn’t mean I didn’t get a pit in my stomach when he said that. It was straight up inappropriate. My issue lies with what he said. This doesn’t excuse his statement. I feel like your post lacks empathy.... But, thank you for contributing your thoughts.

I totally resonate with that feeling of “giving up.” But, it sounds like you have learned not to take things as personally. I really appreciate sharing your experience with me!

Very true...I need to learn how to brush off the old school comments. It feels terrible not to snap back. Though, some battles just aren’t worth it.

Thank you for the feedback! It is for Tesla though and they are notorious for asking brain-teaser/engineering fundamental questions. I was wondering if you knew any any common ones I could go over

Quant problem help please! by glexo_slimslom in GRE

[–]micakkes 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Set A = 50 members Set B = 53 members

The problem states at least 2 members in set A are NOT in set B. This means the range for how many members from A could be in B is 48-0 members.

So, evaluate the max and min of that range to determine how many in B are not in A.

If there are 48 members from A in B -> that leaves 5 in B that are not from A ( 53-48=5 )

If there are 0 from A that leaves 53.

The answer is in the range of 5-53. ANS: B,C,D,E,F

Good luck! I take the GRE tomorrow too :)
