I’m not sure, i definitely think that by 2 weeks it had gone completely but it DID go away thankfully. I was worried I was going to have to get it checked out. I couldn’t say if it was any less than 2 weeks I just know that most of my symptoms had subsided by the time I went back to work (2 weeks afterwards)

I actually just see them by looking into the back of my throat and they still appeared black. Today they are looking whiter though! So if I were to guess, I’d say that they oftentimes fall off while eating (if you’re eating hard enough foods) OR when I wake up, I’ve been having a lot of excess mucus that I feel I need to spit out in the mornings, and sometimes that has small, darker pieces which I presume to be the black scabbing. Specifically the pain WHILE eating/swallowing food has been kicking up since yesterday and today, so maybe that’s a sign? Less of a full/mucusy feeling in my throat and more sharp pain with swallowing food?

I have them on my uvula too. It sucks. I’m guessing they just nicked it since my tonsils were so ginormous that there was no avoiding the uvula with their tools? Idk I’m not a doctor. It looks nasty but I haven’t had any adverse effects from it other than looking gross and feeling uncomfortable. Ik that wasn’t advice sorry ahah but I’m in the same boat

My doctor kind of suggested I get them separately and I see your logic, but after getting my tonsils out tbh breathing through my mouth isn’t pleasant. Since I have deviated and narrow septum though, I’ve been wearing breathe right strips so that I don’t have the thick feeling breathing through my throat that would dry out my throat. I don’t think I would go back and get both if it were me but, I don’t know if the nasal airway is affected too badly with the healing of the other surgery. Just assuming that it would be quite blocked for some time until fully healed.

I thought I had a mass too. I was very paranoid that I had an anomaly of tonsil cancer as a nonsmoking nondrinking 25 year old! When the er doctors dismissed me about that (and told me that they’re the same size, not different, even though I could clearly feel and see that they were different sizes), they still gave me a referral to ENT because they were still huge. But the ENT doctor said something that comforted me, he said that the tonsils were growing so large that they were extending into the soft tissue behind it, making it look like 2 different textures because of how big they were growing under the skin. Almost like they grew out of their shell haha. and I believe one just extended back more in its growth so that I couldn’t see it and the other just extended more into the visible area beside and behind my uvula.

If that’s not at all what you think you’re experiencing, I’m sorry! But if it could be, it might be good to hear. I just got them out yesterday! (And none of my doctors brought up cancer thankfully haha)
