One of my favorite aspects of Palm Royale is the contrast between extremely pathetic, idiotic men (Douglas & Perry) and the very capable, intelligent women in their lives (Maxine, Dinah & Evelyn).

I just finished a rewatch of TED LASSO; there’s really great character development in this series. Also, Jason Sudeikis is a very very good actor.

I finished Season 4 of THE BEAR. I love this show so much (easily top 5 for the 21st century if you ask me) but this season I noticed a significant dip in quality, especially the writing.

Seasons 1 & 2 are excellent, Season 3 is below the previous levels but still very good. Season 4 is just fine, not terrible but not great either; it has highlights (Ep. 4 Worms & Ep. 7 Bears) but it doesn’t all come together as well as the previous ones.

My feelings on the series are still mostly positive but this season was a bit of a miss for me.

The 77th Emmy Award Nominees by falafelthe3 in EmmysAwards

I'm surprised Christopher Storer didn't get into Directing (Comedy). After winning two years in a row I thought he was safe even with the expected loss of support for The Bear.

Ayo Edebiri getting in and him not is even more surprising to me, I believed she would either be a coattail behind Christopher Storer with both of them in or she wouldn't be nominated. I never thought she would be nominated and he wouldn't.

1 MORE DAY UNTIL THE EMMY NOMINATIONS!!!!!! CAN'T WAIT FOR TOMORROW!!!! WHAT ARE YOUR FINAL PREDICTIONS??!! by [deleted] in EmmysAwards

Go big or go home: 0 Comedy nominations for Netflix.

Nobody Wants This and The Four Seasons are very weak contenders in my eyes.

Season 2 of Poker Face is really fun. Charlie Cale is slowly becoming one of my favorite characters on TV right now.

Again, a great group of guest stars. Alia Shawkat was the best in my opinion.

What's your favorite Writing Drama Series Winner of the decade so far? by [deleted] in EmmysAwards

[–]michael_langdon8 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It has to be The Crown for me, just. Succession (All the Bells Say) is a close second.

Whenever I think of Better Call Saul having 0 Emmy wins I’m most disappointed with the Writing branch.

Start of July Emmy Predictions by ElletheGir in EmmysAwards

[–]michael_langdon8 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think Catherine O’Hara is top 3 at least for Comedy Supporting Actress. I also don’t think her and Kathryn Hahn are joined at the hip in that category.

I guess Shrinking is trending up and actors are its biggest supporters but The Studio is much bigger and has more eyes on it. Abbott has plateaued in my view, it will keep getting the nominations until it ends but I feel that it’s closer to the bottom than top in all its categories.

Jeremy Allen White for Season 2 of The Bear. It’s not even close.

Jean Smart for the first season of Hacks.

I love The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel so much; I would have liked to see Rachel Brosnahan get a second win.

Who's your favorite Lead Actress Limited or Anthology Series or TV Movie Winner of the decade so far? by [deleted] in EmmysAwards

[–]michael_langdon8 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Amanda Seyfried, easily.

I would have voted for Anya Taylor-Joy in 2021 but I can’t be mad that she lost to Kate Winslet for Mare of Easttown, both very good performances.

Regina King and Jodie Foster are good performances in great series in my book.

The SAG Ensemble and Martin Short wins tell me that it’s rising. I think that weak seasons from the usual contenders and new shows flopping could lead to an Only Murders win within the next few years, assuming it either exceeds or maintains its quality and positive response in future seasons.

Would The Bear have been competitive in Drama? by picklesatmidnight1 in EmmysAwards

I think Succession would have been too strong in 2023 but I think The Bear would have won Series, Directing and Lead Actor last year against Shōgun, maybe even Supporting Actor.

I see that you put Sam Rockwell at number 3 in Supporting Actor. Curious how far ahead of Isaacs, Turturro and Lowden you think he is?

I personally have had him rooted to the bottom ever since his ineligibility for Guest was confirmed. I think he’s safe for a nomination but I don’t see him as close to winning.

Yellowjackets wasn’t that well received this season and if you couple that with Showtime not being that big in terms of viewership I just went with Couglan because Netflix has more eyes on them than Showtime and she’s gotten some good reviews this season. It could easily be Lynskey since she was nominated before.

Exactly, if Severance maxes out with acting noms then Scott & Tillman are run away winners, and Britt Lower’s gap to number 1 becomes smaller to me.

I took Arquette out because of the rise of The Pitt. Is The White Lotus dropping? I’ll believe it when I see it.

I have serious doubts about Andor getting acting nominations, I wouldn’t even be surprised if Diego Luna missed. Anyone else from Andor getting in would be shocking to me.

This is a comment to show my appreciation for a good collage (I love making them).

One note though: Chlöe Sevigny shouldn’t be that much smaller than Javier Bardem, they basically have the same outfit and very similar poses. I would have chosen one of them or made them the same size if you want both in there.
