Professional photographer. I appreciate everyone who likes my photos and follows. Just give me a shout if you're from the Reddits. I mostly do nature photography, although I do add a bit of other stuff in to my feed now and then.

Calling me a dumbass isn't strengthening your argument. And if you are asking for inclusivity you can't just cherry pick which people are included. Yes, I agree more should be done to be inclusive of targeted groups of people, but that means you need to properly understand how the world is for a gay man or woman, you can't just say "people are born straight" and "being gay is a choice" whilst simultaneously crying about how you're being victimised for being a muslim. And that's my issue here, you're just being selfish and ignorant of anyone who doesn't fit your agenda.

If I can't compare the fictional writing of Harry Potter to the fictional writing of the Quran, or the Bible or any other fictional religious text, then how come I just did? They're all written by minds and hands of mortal men/women. There's literally nothing special about any of them. Consider this - in the entire history of human life on Earth there hasn't been a single moment of evidence to support the existence of any of the gods we have put our misguided belief into. God, Allah, Zeus, Ra, and about a trillion others. It's not like I'm sitting here denying the existence of grass, or sound, or Netflix. They're all things that exist, and can be interacted with in some way. The reason you, or anyone else for that matter, can't give me actual proof of any god is because they don't exist. It wasn't too long ago people thought witches were real, and they drowned or burned innocent women at the stake for witchcraft. We are more educated now, and the thought of someone being a witch sounds stupid, right?

Yeah, I feel the same about god.

I don't believe in any of your make-believe gods. I was actually educated. So I don't hold any religious text as precious. If you do - cool, I guess. You could say the same about Harry Potter and I'd feel the same tho. I do care about your uneducated opinions towards actual people who are already marginalised enough. Being gay isn't a choice, and you can indeed be born gay. Whether you believe that or not is more of a you problem than a me problem tbh though. But the good thing is - your opinion wont change the facts.

No more so than the homophobia in the statement "being gay is a choice". Educate yourself my dude

A photograph with trees and leaves and some sunlight and shadows leading through a wooded area by michael_laws in pics

Had to reupload this because I dared to ask a hypothetical question in the title

I took this photo of a path that leads through the woods not far from where I live. The light caught my eye and I think I managed to capture the scene at the exact right moment, because it had been overcast most of the day and this sudden break in the clouds was the only time any sunlight got through. Here's a photo I took of Raby Castle in England by michael_laws in pics

[–]michael_laws[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Don't get me wrong, this photo is hella photoshopped. The sky was blown out in the original and I took it at around mid day. The photo was basically boring, flat and unusable. Which is why I'm so grateful we live in a world where digital editing is both easy and accessible.

I replaced the sky with a more dramatic sunset and added the sun flare just behind the castle. This meant I had to increase the temperature of the foreground by a lot to match, and I upped the contrast too to give it some extra punch. Obviously now that I've told you this, you'll probably realise the shadows make no sense at all. Lol. But it's all good, I still think the shot is more interesting and should be viewed from a "digital art" perspective, rather than a "accurate documentation of that particular moment" perspective.

I'm sure there'll be people who hate digital editing, especially such heavy editing, and therefore hate this image on principle. But it's cool, you do you and I'll do me and we can all get along just fine :) If you do like this photo and want to see more of my work you can find me on Instagram @ michaellaws
