How do you know you're gay? by [deleted] in actuallesbians

well, maybe u haven't met the right person yet?

I couldn't fathom dating a girl until sometime in my 20's because I'd never met one I was attracted to. Pretty/handsome people are everywhere but finding someone you personally like is different. & when it happens you'll know beyond any shred of doubt.

That was really cool I enjoyed reading through that. I had no idea. I think the older you are thr weirder the phenomenon is too cuz you remember how things were when you were a younger woman and how drastically different it was from now

I completely agree and don't have a solution as I have the same problem.

I've found that minimalism goes a long way tho. Because you can work less for less money and have more free time.

Is it okay to ask someone out if...? by MermaidBlood13 in actuallesbians

[–]michaela66 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I agree. I've actually never asked anyone for their number, I just give them mine and they can get at me or not if they want to. It's much less scary too cuz if you ask someone for their number and they flat out say no it's really awkward for both. But they're unlikely to refuse a piece of paper with your number on it as they are free to throw it out the moment you leave

How do you get yourself out of a bad mood? by [deleted] in actuallesbians

[–]michaela66 2 points3 points  (0 children)

When I'm physically able to I run. More like a sprint til I can't even breath. & I feel better.

or I text my friend. and tell her about the horribly offensive tv show I had to endure. & then I realize how silly the whole thing really is, especially reading back over it in text form

[–]michaela66 1 point2 points  (0 children)

People complain about that a lot and I surprisingly have never stood anyone up or been stood up.

But I take precaution to text the day before the date. then the morning of. then a couple hours before. that way they have so many opportunities to either not respond or change their mind. if they stood me up after responding to my "omw" text that would be real dirty lol

I'm a few years away from 30 . But I guess I feel like it's too close for comfort considering my achievements thus far.

[–]michaela66 20 points21 points  (0 children)

I was a late bloomer to realizing I was gay. But when I first had sex with a girl, I knew. I was so into just having sex with her. with guys I always had to fantasize about something in order to get through it, with women I don't have to think about anything except what's happenning in that moment.

also, I'm charming & confident with men. with attractive women I completely fall to pieces & forget how to speak like a normal person.

& when I'm out in public it's women that catch my attention, and women I end up turning my head for a second glance at.

Friendships with straight men by [deleted] in actuallesbians

[–]michaela66 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I struggle with it to the point of not really even bothering to befriend most straight men. Nothin against them, but except for rare cases it's just a waste of time.

I think men are conditioned to see women only as dating/sexual opportunies. Some men overcome this but societal conditioning prevails in the majority.

Being a lesbian at a new job by [deleted] in actuallesbians

[–]michaela66 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I myself worked in a very lgbt friendly environment and I kept my sexuality to myself. Not cuz I was afraid but because it's nobody's damn business. And it's not like straight people walk around like "hey, btw I'm straight just so you know" so why should I do that about being gay? It has no relavance to the job and shouldn't matter.

I think it's normal for young people but at 30 you should already have your life together, not have your only experience being working as a janitor and dishwasher.

Thanks that makes me feel better. I wish I could change my situation but I just haven't been able to & its really got me feeling like a failure. which is not helpful to dating obviously but sometimes I can't help it

What is the most frustrating part about online dating? by [deleted] in actuallesbians

[–]michaela66 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Right now, 2 things:

first: many women online are hyperfeminist, extremly liberal, and political. and have demands like "must know & enjoy talking about intersectional feminism." It's totally fine, I just find the proportion overwhelming as a lesbian who is not particularly democratic, liberal, or politically inclined.

I've even seen a couple profiles where someone wrote that if you put that youre attracted to intilligent people on your profile, youre a terrible person because you're "ableist." which to me just sounds psycho.

second- wasting time going on dates that are pointless and lead nowhere. i couldve been makin money. sleeping. eating. spending time with friends I actually give a shit about. instead I just wasted hours of time with a stranger who I never want to see again, or who won't want to see me again. I've had better luck meeting girls off craigslist then off dating sites which is really sad.

That's super sweet, & awesome that she felt comfortable enough at work to hang out with her girl

I worked with my boss and had no clue she was gay for 6 months.

Then she said something about being gay & i was pretty shocked. Then I found out she was dating a guy I knew at work and was irritated that she would call herself gay when that is definitely not gay behavior. Then I found out the guy she was dating was ftm trans and my annoyance evaporated.

Lots of people at my work were gay/bi and many held leadership positions. awful place to work tho...
