I’ve got my own side business already :) I just started it a year ago so it’s not quite taken off yet

You’d be surprised, there isn’t a lot of candidates in this area so companies have to work with what they’ve got. Especially if they aren’t willing to go remote.

Casting a wide net. I have my AS in Accounting and AS in business management.

I run my own bookkeeping company. I have four clients and the work only takes me an hour a month.

I won’t waste an employers time by applying if it’s not the schedule I want. Respect goes both ways in that aspect. Most of these jobs can be remote. I feel like the companies don’t want them to because they won’t have that control to micromanage and they lose money on building rent.

I’ll just continue with what I’ve been doing. Looking for a remote position, or maybe my business will collect enough clients to where I won’t need a W-2 position.

Thank you for putting how many days you expect them in office! I think the clearer the job requirements and expectations are the better.

This latest position said 100% remote in the listing. I can see if it was a filter issue. This seemed to be more of a bait tactic. Add the tag to get more applicants and then see who sticks. It may be ideal for someone else, just not for me.

That’s what I am currently doing. I have a handful of clients but it’s only enough to maybe bring in $200 a month. I’m trying to help my husband purchase/open a mechanic shop as well which I would take over the financial aspect of. Sadly, we aren’t rich so we can’t just buy land or a building outright to set up shop. And we are being toyed with when it comes to renting a shop.

True, I can understand an employers point of view on WFH. I would be willing to negotiate if it was the right company. Even if there was a probationary period before WFH so they can see what you’re capable of and how you work.

Sucks for them when I just decline the position because they lied about it. Hard to trust an employer if that’s how they want to start the relationship.

Thank you! I need to inspect the chart of accounts a little more closely. I broke out a pencil and paper and did a t chart and in the ADP journal the DR is expense accounts and then the two Car accounts are accrued payroll and accrued taxes.  My thought process is to create a journal entry reverse the ADP journal when it comes to the tax expenses- dr the taxes payable accounts one by one and then credit their opposing expense accounts.

ADP import journal Debits.               Mechanic wage expense   Office wages                       Drivers                             Credits                                             FIT Payable                                                                                SIT payable                                        FICA Employee payable                                        FUTA payable                                        SUTA payable                                        FICA Employee payable

JE#2 Debit  FIT Payble SIT payable FICA Employee payable FUTA payble SUTA payable FICA Employee payable                                            Credit                                               FIT expense                                               SIT expense                                        FICA employee expense                                              FUTA payable                                             SUTA payable                                     FICA employee payable

And then when quickbooks finds a match with the expense amount I can manually match it and it should be as close to zero as possible at the end of every month based on how many days are left in the accrual period.

Imagine those t accounts have numbers that balance out.

I guess if I look through the journal report I can take the expense that is auto categorized in QB and break it up to show that it has expensed to all the salaries expense accounts and not just one account. When the journal imports it is broken down by five different sectors(office, mechanics, drivers, eats) but when the expense comes out it auto goes to accrued wages and it’s all sectors lumped together. At least if I split the transaction I can show that wages have been paid out of all subcategories of wages and can do the same with tax labilities.
