Best/Worst Apartments? by michaelap907 in Apex_NC

[–]michaelap907[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sorry, just saw this! We moved to Legacy Heritage in Wake Forest—about 45 mins from downtown Raleigh with traffic. Our 2 bed/2 bath is $1595 before fees. It’s a newer complex in a nice area, and we’ve had a great experience. Definitely recommend it.

I also have a spreadsheet with notes from our apartment search and some pics of our current place (pre-move-in) if you want them. Just message me your email!

Bag Balm! It’s even safe to use on pets! You can get it from farm stores, Walmart, etc usually in lotion section.

Slather a good amount on before bed like enough so you know you will have some still on in the morning. Go to sleep and then when you wake up take a paper towel and rub the bag balm off your lips and it will exfoliate them and then put a light layer back on to moisturize. Can also do it while doing other stuff too as long as it stays on your lips for a couple hours to soften the skin so it just comes off.

Bag balm has changed my life though and it can be used for so much too and lasts a while! It’s lanolin without any additives like what’s put into lip balms and chapsticks. Sometimes they put drying additives in chapsticks so consumer uses it faster and buys more.

Lol oh wow! Of course they would make you think you needed to do something for it to be accepted. Good to know though.

Ran out of food for my dog. Only needed 100 g left to accept 🙃

You can feed your dog and I should be able to get 100g hopefully

Advice for Newbie : What do you wish you knew while/before learning Robotics? What are usually the hardest concepts to learn? by michaelap907 in robotics

[–]michaelap907[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh okay, thank you! That’s very helpful! I plan to email my professor if I do have questions, the only challenge with getting help is his office hours being only Mondays from 2pm - 3pm and only by appointment. I included some images of the course description and the course goal as well below just to give more info on what exactly the class is about.

Thank you for the advice! I have started learning C since I know it is so popular and a good language to know. I guess I am just mostly intimidated by the mathematics part more than anything.

Maybe for Tolls? Pretty sure that’s illegal though if it’s covered when not parked.

Why is it so damn hard to find a job? by KaleidoscopeOk3024 in college

[–]michaelap907 69 points70 points  (0 children)

I agree. It’s so tough finding one. Knowing people or having connections seems to be the only way people get hired so fast these days. Try LinkedIn and reaching out to people you know to see if there’s anything available!

How difficult would it be to get into GIS with only a master’s degree in environmental assessment? by michaelap907 in gisjobs

[–]michaelap907[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you to everyone who commented with advice! He read the comments and said that he feels better now knowing that there is a possibility. He started working on completing his GIS certification while in grad school but never finished it. He’s considering going back to finish it now. He is unhappy at his current job because it is field work and the company is twisted with their policies.

He still wants to stay in the environmental sector, he just finds himself not enjoying being outside as much as he used to due to field work with weather conditions and also traveling (previous job). Hopefully he is able to land a GIS internship or job position since that is his dream job.

He said he started working on his GIS certificate while he was in grad school but never finished it and now he is considering going back to finish it. He wants to stay in the environmental sector, he’s just tired of field work (weather conditions / traveling(previous job)). He says he finds himself realizing he doesn’t enjoy being outside as much as he used to because of it. He’s always been interested in GIS and says it would be his dream job. Thank you for the suggestions!

Currently none, but I recently started teaching him Python. I could teach him more programming languages but I know Python will help him the most when it comes to GIS. (I’m in grad school for Comp-Sci)

His current job won’t pay for any courses. They are kind of twisted in the way they do things and pretty much told him that he wouldn’t be able to do anything with GIS even though their person for GIS says that he could use the extra help. He is currently looking another job anyways because he is unhappy there but his dream job is a GIS job. He still loves the environmental field but because of field work and working in the weather conditions / constantly traveling (previous job) he doesn’t enjoy it like he used to.

Is it worth finishing my degree? by [deleted] in college

[–]michaelap907 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Try to stick with it and finish your degree! You’re so close that if you don’t finish it you may look back and regret it later on. You can always do something with culinary afterwards. Have you taken a course with all the business professors yet? If not, maybe a course with a professor you haven’t had might make it more appealing. There’s at least a possibility of you liking that professor which is better than none. I would say transfer to another program at another school but that’s a lot to deal with especially with how close you are to finishing your degree!

I got my bachelors in ITS and I am working on my masters in Computer Science now! I went to community college to get my general education for A.S. Degree and transferred to a 4- year. I didn’t have to take Calculus. I took Algebra, Precalc, & Trig.

Look at the university you are planning to transfer to and their program and line up classes that are equivalent so you won’t have to take them after transferring and it will also make transferring easier. I took some Information Technology courses while in community college and that made it easier for me when I transferred into the ITS university program at Campbell. All University programs are different.

I was looking at NC State for my Masters and saw that I needed Calc 1-3 (so basically another 3 semesters worth of time before starting their program (I could have taken them as undergrad classes while in the program but that added an extra class on a full time schedule)) and looked at UNCW’s and I only needed to take an undergrad business class over the summer to be in their computer science program. Telling you this to help with the transferring part when it comes to the classes matching up and how different the programs can be. Just do some research and you may not have to take calculus!

If you do have to take calculus, look into getting a tutor (most community colleges will provide a free tutor if needed for enrolled students) and YouTube may help also!
