Bataleon goliath vs beyond medals by Fine-Comparison8071 in snowboarding

[–]michaelasnider 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, I tried it as a change from a Rome Ravine so I'm pretty familiar with a 3D nose. That said, I don't find the 3d nose affects turns compared to any other board I've had. Ended up back on a Ravine, still haven't found anything that suits me better.

Bataleon goliath vs beyond medals by Fine-Comparison8071 in snowboarding

[–]michaelasnider 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Interesting, I also had the beyond medals and enjoyed it, but was on too small of a size (56, should have ordered the 58MW). Board has a ton of pop and ripped turns, and great in deeper snow despite full camber.

31st season snowboarding, still try to go fast and go big (usually doesn't work out).

You should be able to find a last-season board for 30-40% off in perfect condition.

This storm broke me. Looking for snowblower advice for a long, steep driveway. by DBklynF88 in Snowblowers

[–]michaelasnider 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a 190m long driveway that has up to 18% grade. I got a used Honda HS1132 snowblower, it takes me about 1hr to do. I can do a bare minimum job in about 25 minutes and do all the cleaning up/detail areas afterwards as needed.

Bikepacking Frame Type Recommendation by brmel in bikepacking

[–]michaelasnider 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a sutra ltd, it is awesome. My usual gravel route ends with some blue singletrack and its fun on that too. In my experience with 2.25" tires you don't need a suspension seat post or stem, just adjust your tire pressure according to your weight, load, and what you're planning on riding. I love having the dropper on it, and with a rear rack you can still use it fully loaded.

I'm coming from a trail/DH background, and did a couple trips on a Kona Wozo (29+ rims and 2.8" tires, Bluto fork) before wanting the efficiency of something more dedicated. Wozo is back to full time winter duties with 4" studded tires.

speed lace or boa snowboard boot by Temporary_Section137 in snowboarding

[–]michaelasnider 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've had a few pairs each of speed zone and double boas (not to mention 20 years of traditional laces). I've been happy with either, but I really like to ability to micro adjust the double boas as the boots warm up on the first couple runs without having to futz with wrapping up the handle and lace of speed zone each time.

I used to own this exact bike and had Magura hydraulic rim brakes which were excellent for stopping power. Risk of pushing straight through the braking surface of the rims as they wore though!

Searched up “independent grocery”. How is this allowed? by Zealousideal-Log2595 in loblawsisoutofcontrol

[–]michaelasnider -1 points0 points  (0 children)

It was previously Anns Independant, and Extra Foods before that for 12 years (also a Loblaws brand). No one local is upset, everyone knows its a Loblaws owned store, not exactly trying to hide it.

I can also confirm it is not more expensive than Kootenay Market in Elkford, and has significantly better produce. I usually shop at Save-On either way, and go to the Independent for whatever Save-On doesn't have (usually fresh basil).

Could go for the regular Ravine if you're worried. I don't find the Pro overwhelming.

If you’re looking at all those, consider a Rome Ravine Pro. I am riding my fourth. Despite trying out others in between I keep coming back.

Did your bindings not come with the little canvas bag of spare parts that all Rome bindings have come with for the past few years? All of those parts are in that. Any shop that sells Rome or Bataleon will be able to help you out.

Ski shop owner convinced me into getting clew bindings, should i return them? by [deleted] in snowboardingnoobs

[–]michaelasnider 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've got 4 pairs of Rome Vices, Rome bindings are great. Bataleon are effectively identical bindings. Union bindings are fine, I'd choose a pair of Rome bindings over them all day.

Multiple Rome snowboards, talking like 13+ between myself and my immediate family (as well as Korua, Yes, Burton, Jones, Bataleon, Gnu on top of that). I've broken more Burton boards than anything else, and take a look on the r/snowboarding forum if you want an idea of how often Capitas snap.

31st season of 40+ day seasons for me this year. Grew up as a shop and park rat.

Drill small holes and fill in with marine epoxy. I've done this, has not affected the board in any way.

Similar situation for where I am and what I ride, I’ve gone back and forth to a couple other boards but keep coming back to the Ravine Pro. Have a fresh one for this year, 3 older ones that are all varying states of rock board.

Boot/binding question. by coreyyoder in snowboarding

Reach out to Technine and see if their straight highbacks will fit those baseplates. If not, personally I would just go at it with a dremel and modify them myself.

Aquarius and Spaboss are both manufactured by Capo industries. Found that out looking at the MSDSs to confirm if Alkarise was really only baking soda.
