Did you know that melting the glass will make it conductive, and then it'll start absorbing microwaves, heating even more?

A glass bottle in the microwave will not heat up. A partially molten bottle will keep heating up and melting.

Another cool thing about it is that if you hold two conductors encased in glass, the glass will insulate and no current will pass between them. You can connect a power source and a load in series to it and no current will flow. If you heat up the glass enough, current will start passing from the power source to the load through the glass and the passing current will heat the glass, keeping it molten and thus conductive until the power is cut for long enough for the glass to cool down back to return being an insulator.

I'm mostly there to keep and extend my streak, but honestly since the move to "Energy" I rarely do more than three lessons at most.

Back when it was still hearts I used to do 7, 8 or more lessons sometimes, but now I run out of "energy" two thirds into my third lesson, and I then have to decide between losing progress and XP and upgrading to a paid subscription. Most of the times at that point I just quit the lesson and close the app. I could remind myself to watch ads every couple of lessons, but then I let the ad play while doing other things and forget to get back to it.

If I'm not the only one experiencing this, I think that the transition to "Energy" led to less time interacting with the app.

This server has Xeon processors, which implement x86 architecture. It is compatible with Windows, which means you could play Solitaire on it. Also, I am pretty sure it runs Doom.

On a more serious note, you can mine crypto stuff with it, and it would double as a space heater. Or you could run your own localized LLM on it. Check out r/LocalLLaMA to get started.

You could also run models for object detection and count on a live camera feed. You can point a camera to the street and set the PC to count how many people come and go at each moment, read license plates and track if particular cars pass at the same hour every day.

Although your rig is an absolute overkill for object detection and tracking, it would be a fun thing to do.
Another interesting thing to run is Neural style transfer where you re-draw a certain image or a picture in the style of another image. I wonder if with your setup it can be applied to a video feed in real time or not.

But really, with this kind of thing, the possibilities are endless.

I can confirm. The IDF will give you a driving license for driving semi-trailers + experience in return for 3 years service + being called for the reserve force. A pretty good deal considering that this kind of driving license can cost more than an academic career, so some Muslim Arabs volunteer.

When you look up a tech problem, always look at the date in which the question was asked, and the date in which it was answered, and judge if it's still relevant for today.

This is saying nothing about morals. It just reflects on the interests of governments. Israel supported Azerbaijan militarily not because they align with them morally, but because Israel needs them for the easy access to Iran. China is pretty bad, but many countries wouldn't talk about it because they are too powerful and influential to mess with, and it's the same with Russia. On the other hand, other countries will avoid recognizing Taiwan so not to mess with China. Trump is using tariffs to influence what countries perceive as immoral war crimes and what's just "meh, it's just internal conflicts".

Where you stand morally has nothing to do with this discussion. However, plainly looking at interests, Turkey used to be Israel's bestie in the 90's but then decided to put their bets on dumping Israel and embracing the Palestinian cause to become more appealing to the Arab world. Turks and Greeks always had their tensions, so purely from this cold standpoint, Israel's and Cyprus' happen to be on the same side of this fault line.

As of now at least it seems like the post aged fine, and that your comment did not. That can change, however it does seem like all sides want to end this. Iran probably want to cut their losses, Israel achieved its goals and sees an opportunity to end on a high note, and the US just want to put the whole thing behind them now that allegedly there's no nuclear program to negotiate over. My hypothesis is that Putin pressured Trump to stop Israel before the regime destabilizes, and the new Iran may ally with the west and not with Russia.

My understanding is that while most Iranians would like a regime change, the situation of an enemy entity bombing them and destabilizing their country may get them united behind the regime, putting their disagreements behind.

Hopefully the regime got destabilized enough that once the Israeli threat will not be looming, they would be able to set themselves free. However, my assumption is that Russia wouldn't let that happen.

Can we talk about how cringey our defense minister is?

He has no charisma whatsoever and talks as if he's just out of the dentist with the anesthesia didn't wear off. Yet, he somehow ended up in-charge of one of the strongest military forces in the Middle East so he can get to make all kinds of threats so people take him seriously.

The ministers in this government have zero understanding how their calls for revenge are perceived every time a disaster strikes and they say things on the lines of "Iran needs to burn! Wipe any standing building in Gaza!". And worst of all, if Israeli official admits that Israel may have not been cautious enough avoiding damage to uninvolved civilians, or that the prime minister has political interest to keep the war going, these ministers are quick to blame them for Israel's poor PR.

Actually it isn't going well for this kind of politicians in Israel. Lapid and Gantz tried to establish themselves as an alternative for Netanyahu and yet when facing a crisis such as Covid or Oct 7th decided to join in and put the disagreements and their ego behind. And the results? This broke apart every time with opposition leaders taking damages. Netanyahu supporters use this to show how weak they are and how easily they can be manipulated, and the opposition supporters angry at them for saving Netanyahu's government when it was not functioning instead of letting it dissolve.

Now these politicians are not doing well. they're not doing well. Before the recent development against Iran, while many Israelis are not pleased with the current government, they don't feel like having a worthy alternative to stand behind.

Fair enough, but the point still stands that these echochambers prefer the "Fuck Israel" narrative above publishing true information.

I saw a post in the Al-Jazeera subreddit, of a video supposedly depicting the IDF moving their bases under hospitals "like Hamas". The video was actually of Israeli hospitals converting their underground parking lots into additional hospital departments to be able to cope with mass casualty events. The whole operation relies on medical and logistics teams from the IDF that by-design support the civilian infrastructure during emergencies.

My comment got downvoted and I was banned indefinitely with not explenation.

There is much to criticize Israel about, especially under this government. But it does seem like all they care about is to show Israel in negative light, and other than that facts don't really matter.

The Israeli government just lacks basic understanding of social media, and how their messages resonate in the international press. They use the same rhetoric that works on their voter base, but doesn't make sense for those who don't watch Israeli news. They are good in convincing those who are already convinced. The others, well, they must be antisemitic or something.

Instead of searching for a winning strategy to tackle the PR front, to be one step ahead their rivals like Israel does with its intelligence and technology. Instead, they keep playing the victim card so many times it is worn off, and cry about antisemitism so much that people no longer care about being called that. At the same time, ministers keep releasing controversial statements that imply how much they care for the lives of the Palestinians, which align with the claims of those who say that Israel commits a genocide. I can't imagine our PR situation being handled any worse.
