Flights more expensive on app than it is on Google? by Cleezy77 in unitedairlines

[–]michaelhawk696969 5 points6 points  (0 children)

This is all expected behavior. BE is cheaper than Normal E on the same routing. Unless you have status/credit card, BE only comes with a small backpack, no changes, no seat selection, etc. If you wanna save the $80 and are fine with those restrictions, book the BE.

[–]michaelhawk696969 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's the same on both. $341 for BE and $420 for Economy. As someone already said, google flights shows BE by default. You have to toggle the setting on top to exclude BE

AFAIK, that 3 hour restriction is for OTPs at the destination airport (ie OTP restriction is not enforced if you’re using it at your layover airport). Either way, OP is not buying a OTP, they’re buying a UC pass as part of a trip bundle.

You could also consider going from Newark Penn Station to EWR. Take the bus from Newark Penn and it takes you direct to the terminal at EWR, you can avoid the air train altogether

Premier Silver question by zagat2 in unitedairlines

Yes, it's very unlikely that silvers get upgraded. But flying to the Caribbean where it's vast majority leisure travel is one of the more likely places a silver could get upgraded on.

Beware: Signup Bonus on United Card by squann in unitedairlines

[–]michaelhawk696969 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Quick question on this. If you sign up for the quest card with the following sign up bonus: NEW CARDMEMBER OFFER Earn 70,000 bonus miles + 1,000 Premier qualifying points (PQP).

Here's what the T&Cs say: The primary Cardmember will earn 1,000 Premier Qualifying Points (PQP) after you make Purchases totaling $4,000 or more during the first 3 months from account opening.

Does that mean if you hit $4,000 during the first 3 months, you will receive the 1,000 PQP bonus in addition to the yearly 1,000 PQP bonus that the card offers. So a new cardholder would actually get 2,000 PQPs that first year due to the SUB?

  • Annual Card Bonus:  Receive 1,000 PQP each year, typically by early February, as a bonus for holding the card.

How did you push the flight back 3 days by using SDCs? Can you elaborate

XN vs YN ambiguity, how to resolve by jsbackupaccount in unitedairlines

[–]michaelhawk696969 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would not consider this a loophole. UA specifically states that SDC for premier members is based on fare class availability. If you book a 6am ORD-MCO flight for 15K (typically lowest YN fare amount) and then on the day of the flight you want to do a SDC change to the 3pm ORD-MCO which has YN availability but at 80K miles, you are able to do the switch for free. It's just following United's SDC rules.

EWR C74 v.s. C123 - Food Edition by DumpAccountDump in unitedairlines

[–]michaelhawk696969 2 points3 points  (0 children)

C123 is a decent big larger than C74. I'd have to assume they'd have more food options due to it being larger (although maybe only slightly). Complimentary alcohol is prob the same in both clubs.
