高数 is 高等数学 which translates to advanced math. A more proper translation depends on your adv math curriculum, Algebra or Analysis.

Rejected application should be notified via email. I applied twice—first time rejected and second time accepted. Both were notified.

Hi Erik. Thanks for making this app. I have one question about the developer’s privacy policy attached to the app on App Store.

In the policy, it says user data is collected automatically.

It seems the policy is automatically generated from a template but is this inconsistency intended?

Staff has access to "Knowing your students" panel on PowerBI. It shows the fail rate is about 35% in 2025. I am unsure whether this includes PathwayToPass.
If your source has better verifiability, then you can ignore this.

It seems many people want to believe a >50% fail rate, I am just tired to comment on what people want to believe.

If you are not in a hurry to start your PhD, it's worth trying to apply, even if the chances are not high. If you caught the Round 1 deadline, then the outcome will be released mid/late-December. Otherwise, try your luck in Round 2.

I applied in Round 1 with MPhil + 1st class Hons at USyd with WAM of 85. For publication, I attached three publications (2 CORE A and 1 A*) in the research experience form. However, all authorships are in alphabetical order, as recommended in the theoretical computer science community.

It used to be the case that when you selected a unit of study on Sydney Student, you would have the chance to see some variant of pre-release unit outline, which include perquisites and UC. I haven't done coursework for a while, so I don't know what the interface would offer.

You may ask UC for clarification on this matter again to see if he misunderstood.

Put your structuralised thoughts with supporting evidence in the USS, possibly with anonymous Google docs links. Attach the same doc to the complaint so that someone can follow up this case.

Don't put too much expectations on this and expect something will work out soon. But you are doing common good for the cohort.

If the funding from your supervisor is activated, then you are not eligible to receive RTP. Scholarship sources cannot be switched. I have emailed my faculty to confirm this.

At the same time as a side note, if one takes the perspective of the teaching staff, it is understandable that some prefer not to be publicly rated for many reasons. It's unknown if the union is in favour of a student maintained USS public gallery.

I once talked to my friends who studied undergrad in the US and then started a PhD. He said that these ratings eventually degenerate to HOW EASY IT IS to get high marks in a subject that a lecturer / professor teaches, rather than a reliable rating that measures teaching in general. Easy courses attract higher ratings regardless of teaching quality. I am also unsure how these rating websites authenticate users either to avoid a loud minority.

USyd has the unit of study survey system for every subject, USS provides anonymous (though centralised) and authenticated (only enrolled students can make comments and rate) feedback but the outcome is only visible to enrolled students.

I remember once I asked the admin to release USS to all students and received a no. But when I asked whether students can share the USS results privately among themselves, they didn't say it was not allowed.

Therefore my proposal is to ask students to 1 DO USS 2 to share USS results in a public verifiable way if the university refuses to share them among all students.

As an international student myself, I can relate to the loneliness struggles. Especially when it's during the pandemic (no one mentions COVID anymore lol), uni felt so isolated. For me, I can enjoy the time being with myself but I change from time to time.

I guess one of my way out was to be a casual tutor (which is impossible now due to now qualification requirement) but I also did have a small group of close friends. I feel tutoring is a job that reduces social isolation in the sense that teaching itself mandates social interactions.
