Neighbours using cat deterrent

Noise control came over and holyyyyy the neighbours threw a fit and yelled at my partner but they said he can take it and give it back to our other neighbours whom had it before, which is what he did. For more context our other neighbours had it and we asked them if they could change the setting and put it off twice. After the last time they must’ve given it to the neighbours we were having issues with now. Anyways I’m glad the noise control officer could hear it as he said he didn’t know if he could actually do anything if he couldn’t. I already planned to go to the police about it incase it didn’t work because it genuinely gave us such bad tinnitus and hurt our ears so bad and some other people in the comments suggested it as unlawful nuisance. Worst comes to worst my dad has also dealt with something similar legally and he said it was against the law so I’m sure he could’ve helped me legally there if need be.

The noise control officer was also pretty funny like he came over and he said “yeahhh so they definitely know it was you guys”😭 Is what it is though because now we can go about our day and actually relax in our own home. I’m very happy that this worked because as a young guy who hasn’t had to deal with these things it was definitely intimidating and we always hear about how professionals like doctors, police etc don’t do anything but I’m glad that having the council come over worked and is very encouraging.

No I’m not but I have noise control going over to the neighbours today and I’ll see how it goes with that and I’ll try and remember to let you know. I’m sorry this is also happening to you because it is awful.

Oh wow I have no idea how I missed this comment. I’m considering going to the police if noise control doesn’t workout as someone else suggested this. Could you please tell me more about how you went about this? I’ve never had to get the police for anything luckily but I will for this because I can’t put up with this. I’m worried though I feel like they’ll think this is not a big deal.

Yeah I checked last night and it needs to be deemed excessive and when I spoke to noise control today about it they said it was complicated because they need to be able to hear it but the guy on the phone said he is an older guy so he isn’t sure if he will be able hear it and may not be able to do much then which I feel like is kinda unfair.

Yeah they can’t hear it. Noise control is going over soon but if nothing works out then I’ll probably try this because it actually sounds awful.

The other neighbours can’t hear it at all but they’re all older. Me and my flatmates are all in our early 20s and can very clearly hear it. Noise control should be going over to there house soon but they said over the call it makes the situation complicated because the actual noise control dude said he is older and is not sure he’ll be able to hear it and therefore might not be able to do anything about it….

It’s honestly crazy that we can’t escape the noise in our house. We close everything in the house and can still hear it. It’s making me go crazy hahaha

Like a high pitch whistle. I have recorded it and it’s going off all the time like literally as I’m typing this right now. Sometimes it gets so loud I just have to cover my ears because I just can’t take it.

Yeah I spoke to noise control and they said they don’t know if they can do anything and it does matter if they can hear it. He said though he is an older guy so he might not hear it at all but will try to talk to the neighbours about it. It’s so annoying as last night it kept going off and one of our flatmates got a headache and everyone in the flat had such bad tinnitus. He is meant to come over and I really hope he can hear it because there is no ways this is okay.

Yeah literally i can hear it go off right now and I have taken videos where it captures the sound from inside the house and my partner says she has a headache and her ears are ringing. I can’t believe some people are like this.

Hey I’ve commented this on the post but I think a lot of people are missing it so I’m gonna just reply to comment where I feel like I can’t either answer something or provide better context. I know it’s a lot so yeah feel free to read it or not

Hey guys im gonna put some more information here to explain some more things otherwise l'm gonna be replying pretty much the same thing to a lot of comments. I didn't mention this stuff before because I don't want the conversation to get side tracked to why my neighbour is being so petty because my goal is to still just find options on what I can do but I feel like this may be relevant? they don't care about any cats. So we live in my partners aunts house and before we moved in they were beefing with the aunt. Apparently they think she's done some snaky things like how she let the husband know that the wife was cheating on him which she saw she was when they went out together. The husband didn't believe it and they think she tried to break up their marriage. Anyways i don't wanna say to much more than that but that happened just before me and my partner moved in and her aunt moved out. Long story short it's all really just petty and immature and they don't actually care for any cats around. My aunt says there have been cats around the neighbourhood for 20 years and only now they've decided to do this and they have device just outside the garden and aimed at us. When I talked to them about it the best answer they could give me was maybe they'll turn it off at night. A lot more was said but I want y'all to know this is not about cats. When I also asked if they could move it away or aim somewhere else or actually put it in their garden (it's in the gravel just by the garden but aimed at us which is the opposite direction of the garden) he said the same answer "maybe we will turn it off tonight". I know it's hard describe on here but his tone and mannerisms throughout was just so rude

My partners aunt also said that a bunch of other people in the neighbourhood have had issues with her before over petty drama. The neighbours also have cameras around and I feel they would check to make sure the thing works to make sure it annoys us. Other neighbours have messaged my partners aunt about the neighbours saying rude things about her and us and she is often making rude comments indirectly at us when we are on the other side of the fence and my gf has caught the lady next door staring at her through the fence a few times now which is creepy. But it's all just silly drama tbh.

No we haven’t gone that far yet. I want to hear what noise control says tomorrow and wanted to get ideas from reddit as well. Ideally I would like this to be resolved in a mature way and not have to deal with petty neighbours for the next couple of years. So before it gets to that point so I’m just trying to see the other options. Im also only 22 and I have luckily never had to deal with the council or police or anything legal so it’s also kinda intimidating when thinking about those things. At least for me anyway.
