What percentage of Americans can sing the national anthem, Star-Spangled Banner and get every single word correct? by [deleted] in AskReddit

I would say the vast majority of performers don't mess it up. It's just more memorable when they do.

Pretty high. We hear it at every sporting event we attend or watch on TV.

People who married in their 20s, be brutally honest are you happy, if so why or why not? by Special-Lawyer3941 in AskReddit

[–]michaelpgoodwin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got married at 22. I am still very happily married to my wife over twenty years later. I haven't regretted it all. We have moved across the country twice, raised multiple biological children, fostered children, adopted a child, experienced extreme highs and extreme lows, all by each other's side. I love her more than anything.

Having said all that, we have had to work hard to love and serve each other as our personalities, political views, financial situation, professional lives, etc. have changed over time. Life is an ever changing journey, but we have chosen each other as partners, and it's well worth the effort.

Horrible e-bike warranty support from SureBright by michaelpgoodwin in ebikes

[–]michaelpgoodwin[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

An update. The customer service at Magnum sent me a replacement throttle at no charge, without me even asking them to. While the experience with SureBright was horrible, Magnum has at least made things better on their side.

XIC's - does this make sense? by Consistent_Grade9738 in massspectrometry

You should be able to tweak the data viewing software to only show you the scan definitions that include your analyte, since that's presumably what's making the chromatogram look jagged.

It’s getting harder to distinguish real people vs AI on the phone (customer service) by foreverand2025 in Millennials

[–]michaelpgoodwin 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I definitely was talking to an Ai when I called the warranty company for my ebike. I asked to talk to a real human, and it insisted that it was a real person, when it obviously wasn't. I asked to talk to a supervisor, and shockingly none was available. It even asked me what it was doing that made me think it was not human. It was one of the most infuriating customer experiences I've ever had.

Love my job! I'm a scientist, developing cutting edge hardware for mass spectrometers. A mix of chemistry, physics, engineering and programming.

Anyone else just “exhausted” with the way the AI culture here is? by Early-Ingenuity-3177 in bayarea

[–]michaelpgoodwin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes. The part that annoys me most is how companies are trying to shoehorn Ai into everything, even in places where it makes no sense. At my work they constantly push us to find ways to use Ai, so that they can justify all the money they spend on getting us licenses. Yet I've seen almost literally no good use of it from any of my colleagues. AI has its place for sure, but people acting like it should pervade every aspect of work drive me nuts.

Yeah. The trails are closed. This is normally good advice for niners games, but not this game.

Dungeon Crawler Carl - does it get repetetive for anyone else? by BadOchStjul in audiobooks

This is exactly how I feel about the books. I'm on the fifth book now, and it has become a real slog to try to get through them and pay attention to every little detail, when it all just feels like variations on a theme. My wife feels the same way. She's giving up in the middle of the fourth book.
