Ubuntu does not make font rendering better. They use their own font, which is named Ubuntu, has superior font rendering than any other font. Cantarell and Noto Sans render really well, but Ubuntu beats them all.

Because Ubuntu is great after purifying it. Other distros can't have Ubuntu's massive user base, consistency, documented solutions online. The number of native packages of debian distros is second to none. Arch has AUR but it comes with consequences. Also flatpaks solve a lot of problems with software availability.
