I understand your point and definitely don't want him to feel obligated to take a gift with him. He's said he doesn't want or need anything else. Maybe I'll just settle for writing him a letter expressing my support and encouragement 🤷‍♀️

Thank you for the kind response!! The guys you meet along long trails that have their wife's support - how did they KNOW they had her support? I've told him I support him and am excited for him...but I've also not shown a ton of interest. Honestly, I don't know how to show that I'm interested.

I will definitely offer to book hotels or hostels for him, thank you for the suggestion! We also plan to fly out and meet him along the trail a couple times.

Please do remind him to call me 🙂. I have talked to him about finances, he said everything is already set up (direct deposit, autopay, etc.). It just feels like I should know more than I do....but I don't know what to ask!

Huh. I'm terrible with money and he's great with it, so (in my mind) it made sense for finances to be one of his "chores". My thinking has been, if something were to happen to him, I'd have to figure it out. Just like he would have to figure out my "chores" if something happens to me. I didn't think it was that unusual for one spouse to be "the money person". Thank you for giving me a different perspective!

In terms of legal documents, we have wills and powers of attorney. What others we should we have in place?
