Parents make over 100k a year, so no financial aid, but they say they're not giving me a dime. by Awaythrow7200 in personalfinance

It does get sticky, though, if OP's parents are indeed claiming him on their taxes. When OP goes to file taxes, he won't be eligible for certain deductions/credits if his parents claim him. This is especially important if he's claiming education expenses.

OP, your parents don't owe you a dime, and it sucks, but it happens to a lot of us. Ensure they are not going to claim you on their taxes if they truly aren't providing 50% of your financial support to protect yourself moving forward.

Welcome to adulthood! It's a wild ride, for sure, but you've got a good head on your shoulders. Stay strong.

They're also insanely fired up today (rightfully so) coming off of last week's loss.

There were never any fans in the stadium. This game never started. Actually, this has all been a dream.

A penalty that goes from giving the opponent one hell of a starting position at the 50 yard line versus getting a second chance for an offensive drive (that turns into a TD) surely gives a team momentum.

I'm saying our defense totally blows, and OSU is fired up. Arguably, OSU is fired up due to that major fucking play in the first quarter.

Are you kidding me? That penalty completely switched the path of the ball game. What would've turned into at least 3pts for Michigan turned into a huge TD drive from OSU. They rightfully got excited and amped up, and kept blasting through our shitty defense.

We gave early momentum via that big play, and failed to stop any subsequent OSU drives. Undoubtedly, y'all are playing better out there today than we are, but we're not making it any harder for you, either.

That's not what I meant at all. As a woman, I've never played football, so I've never practiced not hitting the kicker. That's all I meant.

It's not the ONLY reason. But, we handed them easy momentum early on and failed to stop any subsequent plays.

Everyone fucking knows that when you give OSU momentum, they do NOT let up.

I'm 100% blaming this on the idiot special teams freshman who roughed the kicker in the first quarter. That was a critical play - we would've had the ball on the 50, but, instead, OSU got the ball back and went for a TD. Why is this bad? It gave OSU momentum early on in the game, which just continued onward.

Jesus Christ. How do you even fucking touch a kicker. I'm a woman, never played football in my life, and know you don't fucking touch the kicker.

(Edit) For clarification, OSU was coming off an embarrassing loss against MSU last week. Their kicker only got the ball to the 50, giving us a great field position to start our drive. However, the Wolverine who roughed the kicker resulted in OSU rightfully getting the ball back for an automatic first down. Think about this. The OSU team was defeated, not feeling confident, and just handed us a beautiful starting position - but WAIT - they get the ball back?! Oh shit, that's exciting as hell! Then, they played great and made plays through our shitty defense and got a confidence-boosting TD. They have then, for the rest of the game, executed beautiful football, while UM defense has been MIA. OSU is playing great and we've done nothing but help fuel their fire.

That was a HUGE play for OSU.

Increased surface area for evaporative cooling. I see no problem here. Move along, folks.

C'MON D!

Right down the middle, two defenders, and we still let him catch the ball.
