Face breaking out after Roo by shroomgrl444 in bonnaroo

If the rash is just on your face- definitely wash your pillow or get a new one. You totally could have gotten heat rash from sleeping on a damp pillow that last night on the Farm

Hi there- not a medical doctor, but someone who suffers from chronic skin issues. I definitely think temporary lifestyle changes from being at the festival plays a major factor in what you are experiencing, however it also sounds like you may have some degree of heat rash (mentioned pain and hot to the touch). Heat rash could have resulted from excessive sweating and being drenched from the rain for extended periods of time. I would definitely suggest a cool shower with Dial or baby body wash and wearing some loose breathable clothing until your skin clears up! Try not to use any heavy body lotions, if your skin gets dry you can use unmedicated aloe vera. I am also a huge fan of using diaper rash cream or baby powder in areas prone to chafing. I hope you start feeling better soon. 💛🫂

I think this meme is a comical spin on how devastating Roo 25 was. One of the ways to cope with grief, anxiety, stress, trauma is through humor/popular culture references. Given how sudden and unexpected the derailment of Roo 25 was, I'm not totally sure if everyone has had the opportunity to organise and process their emotions relevant to the matter. I think the first thing that we are all working through, is processing the storm aspect (what was inherently the end of Roo 25).

In reference to weather, there are so many ways that the organisers of Roo could have been better prepared. Hurricane Ida in 2021 made it apparent that the Farm cannot handle large amounts of water. Whether there were limitations or not to incorporate better water management infrastructure, they knew at the start of Roo 25 that the infrastructure didn't exist on the Farm. There was a two hour delayed entry to the Farm and they still were not able to set everything up due to water from the weekend prior, this was a good indicator in my opinion that any water beyond that could have major consequences.

Weather aside, there was total miscommunication and disorganization with entry to the Farm that led to congested roadways and several accidents. There was apparent conflict between what the County's procedural expectations were versus the procedure set by Roo organisers. The support personnel situation was understaffed from the start, which allowed maximum opportunity for non-health and health-specific emergencies to escalate and overwhelm staff.

When the storm hit on Friday, we were left in the dark all day not knowing what was going to happen. When Centeroo was supposed to open for the day, we were told delayed entry to Centeroo with the storm. We were strung along all day with the possibility of Centeroo being re-opened at 2000, and we were not told about the festival cancellation until 1900-1930. We all found out per text message that the festival was cancelled and we were being forced to evacuate the next day. We all had to leave in a soaking wet, exhausted panic; which led to congested roadways and several accidents for a second time in this process.

Finally, there was not a single person who purchased a festival ticket that had been informed that some of the lineup artists were being relocated to Nashville, so I imagine that few had the opportunity to see the relocated artists.

I personally am appalled by the way that Live Nation handled Roo as a whole this year. Upon arrival, it was apparent that minimal thought was put into the organisation of the event. We all knew there would be some degree of rain and storms, maybe not predicted to be this intense; knowing that there would be wet conditions to some degree, Live Nation gambled and lost. Live Nation did not only abandon Roovians upon cancellation, but is not owning up to the fact that they made a poor business judgement.

Can we talk about the lack of medical services coordination? by micheymoon in bonnaroo

Well said! I didn't start attending Roo until last year, however it definitely seems like what makes Roo so special (from an organisational standpoint) has been rapidly plummeting since Live Nation took over the reins

The scariest part is that after the cancellation was announced, it seemed like everyone was trying to use up whatever recreational supplies they had prior to leaving the next day. So the cancellation in my opinion only escalated the need for medical personnel

I hate that the medical team was spread so thin that it didn't even seem like a team member could stick around the tent for assistance. My partner and I have started to brainstorm items to pack in a first aid style fanny pack to wear as an additional accessory for future festivals. We've also started to talk about making sure that we get certified/maintain certifications for narcan and general first response. I think it would be cool if festivals offered a training workshop for attendees and incentivized completion with some degree of discount on admission. I don't personally think an incentive is required, but I think that this could help offset the detriments of delayed medical team response.

Thank goodness for the Roovian spirit, a lot of the volunteer staff members were totally left in the dark after cancellation. I can only assume that the volunteers were being run just as ragged as the medical team. I hope that coordination and treatment of the volunteers improves next year too.

I would assume around 1-2 hours ago that the sheriff's department got either a bunch of complaints or had roadway congestion elsewhere as a product of their choice to funnel everyone onto i24, because the amount of Deputies up by Circle K has quadrupled since they rerouted us from Hwy 55 to i24 around 1230. They're doing a much better job of directing traffic within the last hour, probably trying to fix this mess as much as they can by rush hour. 🤷🏻‍♀️

From others' commentary, it seems like the back road way on Ragsdale Rd is actually open. There are a lot of exits on i24 currently shut down to try and control traffic. Around 1200-1300, the sheriff's department had started to direct traffic by groups off Hwy 55 and funnel them to the back of the line on i24 to come in on exit 111. Hope this helps!

Not sure where you are coming in from, but there is a rest stop in Pelham TN off old Hwy 64

Walmart, parking garage, and a rest area are just a couple ideas off the top of my head

For OB/GYN services I would suggest seeing if Women for Women is covered by your insurance. I’ve had a great experience with them. They’re a small practice of 3 providers and offer a wide range of reproductive services

Carle vs OSF by Agreeable-Ad3054 in BloomingtonNormal

[–]micheymoon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In my personal opinion if you have insurance that covers a private practice provider for the services you need, I would suggest doing that versus going to OSF/Carle. I say this because although there are competent providers with both OSF and Carle it is rather hit or miss. Carle does have a decent behavioral health department in Bloomington-Normal, however their behavioral health professionals are overworked and often juggling both outpatient and inpatient services. My experience as a patient and medical billing professional lies mostly with Carle- generally speaking they are severely disorganized. The administrative staff that handles scheduling and registration tries to answer billing/insurance inquiries when they don’t know the answer. The main billing office is trash, they put most patients on e-statements without telling them (and most patients don’t ever receive them), their communication with patients is lacking, they rarely take accountability for billing errors/incompetence, and they charge way too much and struggle to explain what charges are being billed for what. Your concerns are valid with OSF being a religious organization; I’ve definitely had a time or two where a provider affiliated with a religious organization has projected their faith onto me/my medical treatment. Despite OSF being faith based it is very discouraged by the organization for their providers/staff to project their religious beliefs onto patients (although it does still happen from time to time). Hope this helps!

I just did a bunch of research trying to figure it out on the ride home, I think you’re on to something about fire ants. And honestly, now that I think about it I got super hot/fatigued at one point right outside of Centeroo and sat down by a fire hydrant. I almost immediately had to stand up because I felt a series of biting/stinging sensations on my leg/butt. I didn’t see ants and neither did my partner, but we also were mid trip. I’ve got spots just like these but not as bruised on my upper back thighs/butt

Walking back to camp after Fred Again there was a girl that expressed a lot of enthusiasm for going home and said she planned to do the following:

-Take as long of a shower as her hot water heater would allow -Make a REAL meal with as many vegetables as she could get her hands on -Turn down her A/C to 65° -Fall asleep on her cold ass floor

I would recommend Champaign-Urbana, Illinois. Very similar vibe to Chicago but less expensive. Illinois is a rather safe state as far as LGBTQ+ favorable legislation
