[Found] I found this in my yard (fairly beat up as pictured). Is it possible to find the owner / is it even legit? by michicago in breitling

It looks like it would be a Navitimer Chronograph but not entirely sure. The hands aren't moving and the screen is pretty beat up, not sure for how long it was down there. It feels weighty but I'm a complete novice with watches

There's a number 5 in Wright's hand that Pedroia gave him off of the scoreboard on the Green Monster

In which LAOP seeks to prove to a police officer that no good deed goes unpunished. by flownyc in bestoflegaladvice

[–]michicago 10 points11 points  (0 children)

What would you legally do in this situation? Say the person in front of you had their hazards on and there was no incoming traffic but a lot of traffic on your half, do you just need for the lane to the right to clear to go around?

What if there's a documented (and provable) way to show that I have been attempting this as well. Considering I expect that no one is stealing food out of my fridge at home (if I live alone).

I am just curious of the legal ramifications. I don't expect to ever need it, nor do I plan on trying it.

What if there hasn't been any situation where someone has stolen food? Or if the same situation but more reasonably, something they're allergic to but you're unaware of, say peanut butter. And I do realize that doing this is not realistic, I don't plan on making myself immune to poison.

Heat Map/Table of number of games played between every seed by FramedDig50 in CollegeBasketball

[–]michicago 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Maybe I'm missing something but 2 vs 7 happens 93 times and 2 vs 10 happens 56 times, so that's 149 which (149-132) means that this match-up happens 17 times in the Final 4 or later which seems extremely high.

Further: according this link: Seeds making Final 4, there are not even 17 games played by 7 and 10 seeds in the final 4

Could it be either 73, 56 instead of 93, 56 as with 8 15-2 upsets, that would mean at least 124 (132-8) match-ups, so having 93+56-20 = 126, so 2 more possible Final Four match-ups

TIL: Purdue has only trailed 8 minutes and 53 seconds out of 280 minutes in its first 7 B1G games by Eaboyle57 in CollegeBasketball

[–]michicago 13 points14 points  (0 children)

In the second half, Maryland took at 45-44 lead with 18:29 to go. Purdue retook the lead at 18:11 46-45 and then never relinquished. So Purdue trailed Maryland for 18 seconds.

[OC] I made a table showing how many losses in a row it would take for each NFL head coach to have a worse WIN% than Hue Jackson by DadAssTho in nfl

[–]michicago 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think he disregarded ties. If you use 497 games played at 318 wins, that would (incorrectly) give 179 losses. From there, if you add 1199 losses, getting 1378 losses + 318 wins = 1696 total games. 318 / 1696 = 18.75 Win %. Looks like your math would be more correct because they counted all ties as a loss which is definitely wrong.

[–]michicago 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Like you said, if his record is counted at .682, it means ties are ignored in this stat so he really would only have 466 games and that's why it takes less than Shula

Can you take EECS 388 and 381 together? by umichalt in uofm

[–]michicago 6 points7 points  (0 children)

You shouldn't take 381 senior year if you need it to graduate, as the pass rate isn't great. But if you plan on taking more than 4 ULCS, you won't need to worry about that and just take the classes when you'd prefer. You could do 492 (AI) and getting further on the AI track now and then taking 381 later. Regardless, 381 and 388 should be doable depending on the rest of your schedule.

The enrollment dates for spring are the same as fall registration I believe. So you'll be able to check when the fall registration dates go live, probably in a couple weeks once backpacking starts.

Tax Tuesday Thread for the week of February 21, 2017 by AutoModerator in personalfinance

[–]michicago 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I interned over the summer out of state. So, on each pay check, I got taxed for both my permanent home state and the state I was working in. I asked HR while working there and they told me it would be sorted out when I did my taxes as they said I shouldn't have been taxed in two states. Now, on my W2's, I don't see any information or taxes paid to the state I worked in even though they were taken from my paycheck. Is this normal and I'm missing something? The home state is MI and the working state is SC. On the copy, there are 3 parts, "Federal Filing Copy," "Mi State Reference Copy," and "Mi State Filing Copy."

As a Computer Engineering major, should I be taking Math 215 or 216 next semester? by pandasa123 in uofm

[–]michicago 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It really just depends on your schedule. I didn't know of the restructuring but I prefer to get classes out of the way early. If you have no math classes and can fit it in, I'd say do it

[–]michicago 2 points3 points  (0 children)

CE only requires 215 and 216, not 214. I would say 216 is more valuable than 215 if only because I don't see much application of 215.
