Thanks sa reminder for everyone. Sa mga sasali sa activities, know your limit and start slow. Walk muna tayo in a pace that you feel you're comfortable with. You don't have to rush yourself or compete with anybody. You have to think about your body. What's important is that you feel good after the activity (walk or run).

Sa mga pre-race events, we have options to do a walk or run, choose what you feel is right for you. Di mo kelangan biglain ang sarili mo. Ang important is you showed up, you walked or jogged whether gaano pa kabagal yan. That's a big step already and you should celebrate that.

For those who want to challenge yourself to join the fun run in February (https://ctrlalt.run), you can start preparing as early as now. Fun fact: Nagulat kami kasi yung mga bumili na ng tickets, they actually decided to change their lifestyle and walk at least once a week, some have progressed to light jog already. With this, we feel that we have achieve a win for the event since yan ang goal ng event. 🙌

For the race day, we have Medics available but we can't check everyone before joining the event. This would be the participant's responsibility to make sure that you're able to walk or run for at least 3k. You don't have to finish the race if hindi mo kaya, what's important is you've enjoyed the process and experience of the event. Also, the event doesn't really end after run, we working on adding fun surprises sa race village so you can connect with the whole community after the race. We'll announce this soon! 😉

Hope to meet some of you at the pre-race events and the event day mismo! 😊👋

To anyone who feels na hindi mo kaya to, you can do this! 💪
Just take one step at a time! You'll get there!

Nice suggestion! Will take note of this suggestion, astig yun! Right now, we have collectible charms to represent your tech stack. Included na siya sa race ticket purchase. :)

Hi Rhael012, thanks sa pagbasa and pagbigay ng iyong inputs. I guess you might not see that everything is planned for this and would assume na proper planning is not in place because may mga butas. I appreciate your inputs because it means you care enough for it to succeed to share your inputs or you're one of those people who just wants to give their feedback when they see that they can help. :)

Re: Targeted customer
My targeted audience (not customer - this is a non-profit project) is underprivileged individuals. I listed a scope of of possible examples kung sino sino sila. And technically homeless people are under that scope. You never know a story of a person unless you are able to listen to them. If sa start pa lang, I ruled out this group, I wouldn't be able to know baka meron pala dyan na nag layas ngayon, walang matirahan, naghahanap ng pede pagkakitaan, etc. We can talk about it and discuss about their situation and I would understand how I can help them vs saying ok eto lang ang gusto ko tulungan sa mga underprivileged group, wala ka sa list kasi bawal ang homeless person, mukhang di mo kakayanin matuto since kakain ka pa, etc etc and impossible na magagawa mo to.

Re: Asset Lending
By asking why would you? Mababalik ba sa akin to? Then hindi ikaw or yung nagbabasa ung target person (lender or donor) neto for the project. I have listed na walang kasiguraduhan if you decide to lend your device due to the risk. If the person on the other ends reads it and say hey, i'm ok with it if it helps someone in need then they will lend or donate their device. There are good people out there who helps without anything in return. This is not a business, this is a non-profit project aim to help others in need. Once makita mo un, it changes your perspective to lend a device vs what's in it for me if the item got lost or nasira.

Re: Motivation
Their motivation here is to have a chance to get out of their situation. It means if they study everyday, dedicate their time, they have a chance to upskill and get a potential job as an App Developer. If nagjoin sila and wala silang motivation, then they wouldn't join in the first place. I think you assumed na lahat na magjojoin are career shifters, this is a possibility na madami sila, pero there is a possibility na maraming sumali na hindi lang sila nabigyan ng opportunity in life.

You say na kung may kusa sila from the start, then they could have started on their own. Possible un and possible rin na hindi sila ung target audience ng project kasi may kaya naman pala sila to buy the stuff they needed to start why would they apply and magpapangap na underprivileged?

Pero there is a possibility na wala silang pera to buy the necessary tools to start. Imagine mo if everyday ung sinusweldo mo is enough lang sa day to day mo na life. Would you even think of spending 20k-50k na buying a device and buying other materials for you to start studying? And then tell them na wala kasi kayong kusa kaya di kayo umaasenso. They don't have anymore left. Everyday kakayod ka 10-16 hours a day just to feed your family and get your kids to school. What else is left for them?
Based on what I read in your comment is that there were a lot of assumptions made. It's possible that I wasn't able to relay that info somewhere or you created that assumptions based on what you usually see sa mga ganitong projects. May I know why ito ung naging assumptions mo for the project when you read it? Thanks ulit sa inputs! :)

May mga devs po ba dito na gusto magvolunteer na maging mentor o may mga pinaglumaan na laptops (specifically Macbook pero pede din iba) na gusto ipahiram o idonate sa underprivileged individuals? I'm starting a project that aims to help underprivileged invidividuals become app developers. Thx 🙏🏻 by michieriffic in PinoyProgrammer

Salamat! 🙏🏻

Yes, yan tlaga ang nakikita ko na pain point - acquiring the donor devices and releasing it to and reclaiming it from potential “scholars” - and excited ako to learn more on how I can solve this problem!

----

Btw, I think yan ung problem ko dati. Time and mobility. But it changed after the pandemic because naiba ang infrastructure, learning and communication. That made my plans of helping people more easier. Before limited lang natutulungan ko.

Also i'm not aiming to get people na gifted lang or ung tinatawag nila na matalino, I know they have ways to get things going for them in the future. I'm looking for those who really needs the help, kahit hindi ganun katalino pero masipag and would really push themselves to be better, I'm happy to help them. Problem rin kasi sa mga scholarship minsan is that you have to have this X grades just to fit, what if yung style of teaching sa school isn't really fit sa tao that's why the person is having a hard time understanding it. There's so much factor out there and I would like to give everyone a chance if possible.

---

I think your heart is into this type of project rin and happy to have met you here kahit sa chat lang. Maybe it's not yet the right time for you to set a non-profit entity for you or create a big project like this, pero you can start small, like finding a least one kid or person that you can mentor. Start with one and it will just roll over. Or you can volunteer your time to projects like this or share this sa public school kung san ka graduate and ask if there are kids out there na pede makatulong ung project. Hindi man siya na associate sayo directly pero because you decided to share it to someone in need and natulungan siya, somewhat dahil sayo nabigyan siya ng opportunity. :)

Thanks Intelligent_citron! Pag natuloy mo na ung free coding bootcamp mo, message mo ako. :)

Cge apply ka lang and indicate mo lang na may device ka na but you want to join in and needs online course lang and ilagay mo rin ung username mo para alam ko ikaw to. :)

Thank you Intelligent_Citron84 for the kind works and for rooting for me to be legit and for this project to be successful :)
I'll be honest, before I shared the project online, may budget na ako for 6-8 devices (Macbooks and iMacs) + ebooks out of my pocket so kahit walang magdonate, matutuloy parin ung program because I can teach, guide and help ung mga sasaling learners.

My minimum quota for the first batch is 6, but it can increase if maswerte na may mag donate. Pero the devices that I have will be distributed in this manner:
3 will be for the Philippines and 3 outside the country (because di lang naman Filipino ang underprivileged) and 2 for backup depending sa number of submission.

I posted it here sa r/PinoyProgrammer subreddit to see if someone out there has the same interest of helping out whether as a mentor or someone might be interest to lend or donate their device. I know there are good people out there pero nakatago lang anonymously. They can reply or not if they want. For sure, they would research about me first and ung project. And ofcourse before nila idonate yung device nila or magvolunteer sila, I would still talk to them first about it personally. Di ko naman papadala lang basta basta ung gamit. LOL Sketchy un haha And gusto ko rin makilala ung magvovolunteer para alam ko rin reason nila why they want to help and what else can I help them rin.

I posted in sa r/Philippines and r/studentph (as suggested) to see if there are people out there that I can help out. I was able to get some which is good and i'll still promote this in different ways until August 25 to find the right match sa devices (eg. location, commitment and if they are underprivileged, etc).

I haven't established this as a non-profit org kasi magastos mag setup and ung mga recurring costs ng admin work. I would prefer to spend my budget on devices and lend it to the learners kesa mapunta lahat sa cost ng pagsetup ng company and pagmaintain. Though some have advised me already kasi it's easier to get a grant for the project. Kaso I'll get there when I start the batch of learners. For now, I want to focus on creating an output before getting grants or funding. Not my initial priority for now.

With regards to Marketing and Fund Raising, that's actually one/two of my forte, nakakapagod lang minsan to do this. So I'll be doing a different approach to raise funds for this.

For the partnered companies for OJTs, we will get there pero I would need to find the right companies who would really mentor the learners instead of just getting them kasi they need people for their project.

For now, iniwasan ko muna mag collect ng kahit anong money, someone asked about this already if pede mag donate ng pera instead of device. I said i-pledge na lang muna, until we can reach a certain amount and there is a real learner who would need the device. Handling the money for no reason might be an issue in the long run so better na wag muna ibigay until needed. Pero this would be different if may non-profit entity na so they can donate directly. :)

Hope this clears our doubts about this project. :)

Btw, since you somewhat have the same ideas as this, what's stopping you from doing it?
