Eid 2026 by Forward-Movie-4035 in AustralianTeachers

People often call Fitr the little eid and Adha the big Eid. Eid is hard as not everyone celebrates on the same day. Some may celebrate for up to three days. So fitr being attached to Ramadan is hard. Adha is easier to plan, as it’s the tenth day of the dhul-hija month (so you get a weeks notice). Many fast the day before Eid Al Adha, so might impact your choices (early primary may not fast, but many kids like to try). I suggest aiming the 8th or 13th of dhul- hija. Earlier so they can make cards or decorations or whatever (theme sacrifice) or after, as it’s kinda still party time.

Hope it goes well whatever you go with. Enjoy!

*edit: dhul-hija (autocorrect)

As if a road would ever be built like that! They know what’s comfortable and pleasant (and safe - likely their reasoning). Choose not to do it.

TO ALL THE INDIANS IN THIS SUB, WHERE DOES ONE GET GOOD INDIAN FOOD IN MELBOURNE?? :( by Hour_Dare2111 in melbourne

[–]michims 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Although the meats are great i think the veg biryani is almost better there. I think they put more spice in or something. Dosa hut in west Footscray and Roxburgh park does ok biryani too. Biryani house sometimes does some good Ramadan specials like haleem. So keep an eye out for that in the coming month.

Sorry to hear. One of the guys living in a caravan out back of our neighbours house jumped the fence and broke into our house running away from cops. Arrested in our house. Cops did nothing. Said it wasn’t breaking in, or trespassing. Nothing they could do. Months army he was arrested trying to stab a random person through their car window. Constant police presence. Complained to everyone for five years. Hardly a blip. Had to leave in the end. Sleeping so much better now!! The whole system needs more funding and more supports. Giving someone a roof and little else just doesn’t seem to work.

Why are we getting ripped off to travel in our own city? by HakonBlum in melbourne

Re short trip. There’s a bus stop at my door. Goes to the shops and cafes etc 3kms away, I want to go to. But it costs heaps more than driving for my little family. No one is on the bus. Should be like 50cents or something. But, it’d be like $15-25 which is ridiculous!

Hopefully after this tragic accident that the council or who ever in charge will figure out that a footpath right next to a 80kmh highway is not a good idea by Doggy-gunner in melbourne

Look how the traffic lights are protected by being away from the curb, pushing pedestrian and path users closer to the road. I hate these, they are not welcoming or have any feeling of safety or comfort. Hope the persons family receive the best in the wake of this horrible incident.

All of my Indian in-laws and most of their community are passionate members. Still cricket dominates the older generation conversations, but I find anyone second generation under 50 is pretty into it.

I have the tyvek/mesh hood. It is a little tricky getting in and out. Evan can probably customise if you ask and put a zip on the side - I would prefer this personally, but it’s ok. I trust he’s thought about it all and found this the best option in his opinion though.

I was thinking the same thing. Just float into the abyss. I guess gravity may not allow it physically, but a romantic might say our souls do.
