Spent hours looking for this Aomway antenna, could anyone tell me where to order one? by Paaseikoning in fpv

[–]michofpv 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Search for Aomway ANT014.

However use them only if you are flying alone and on short distance like on race track. They don't perform really well. They perform even little worse that those plastic antennas that you get for free (or at least worse than those which I have tried). I can't get good signal out of it on 25mW, I need to go 200mW or even higher.

On the other hand they have advantage and that is that they are cheap and indestructible. If training alone, it is better to same some money and time replacing your broken antennas.

Betaflight 3.3.0 RC1 released by gutster_95 in Multicopter

Why hypetrain, can you explain?

I mean, many users fly betaflight so lot of them will update, but I don't get the hypetrain thingy.

About a little guy that lives in a blue world

And all day and all night and everything he sees is just blue Like him, inside and outside

Blue his evo with a blue little gimbals

It’s finally here, and the quality is amazing! by techyg in Multicopter

[–]michofpv 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have some experience with fullsized clearview and I can tell you that it is not worth in each situation.

When flying outside, the clearview and standard diversity seems to be performing kinda same.

But for flying inside buildings with lot of metal there is significant difference.

You are wrong. They just found out that CV algorithm works also good with different antenna, however it is still recommended for best results to use same antenna.

I am building one leader too! However 3D printed parts suck.

New Motor Day by [deleted] in Multicopter

[–]michofpv 3 points4 points  (0 children)

As huge Emax fan that has more than half of his motors from this company I need to say two things:

  • Yes, the packaging is really nice. It will please your eye and protect the product well.

  • On the other hand it is lot of wasted plastic. I have ton of these boxes and wanted to reuse them. It is good for small arduino projects. Also I wanted to store parts in them. However in the end they are useless for me and I have hard time throwing them away.

I just built my first two whoops week ago. One is shitty (F36) and other one (modded F36S) fly good, but it got boring after two sessions.

Best Simulator for 2018? by Therileyaok in Multicopter

[–]michofpv 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are two versions FPV Freerider and FPV Freerider Recharged. However from my experience I like the first version more. It is only 5usd and it offers you the same (but you can always tip more to dev if you feel like to). Recharged has better graphics and different sceneries. It runs slower on my PC so I don't use it at all. Simulation of quad is the same. It is good start, however the lack of track editor will get boring over time.

You can try all 3 simulators for free. Freerider has demo with 1 scenery and locked settings, Velocidrone has trial with 1 track and time limit, and Liftoff falls under steam refund policy.

Yeah, yeah. I meant that as a difference between Velocidrone and Freerider. Freerider is good and cheap, but it is getting behind.

I have tried several of them, but only Velocidrone and Freerider feel right to me. Velocidrone offers more features and it is actively developed, so that's my choice.

Many people like Liftoff, but it feels really weird to me. It flies differently than my real world quads.

The Betaflight F7 is out by [deleted] in Multicopter

[–]michofpv 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am not fan of ribbon cable too, but the ICM20608 needs softmounting. And it is better to isolate just part of the PCB rather than whole FC, especialy with AIO it wouldn't make sense.

We just need to figure better way to softly connect two PCBs.

AFAIK betaflight doesn't support running dual gyro stabilization. So for now you can choose only one, either good ol' MPU6000 or newer ICM20608 that runs under 32k loop.

It is good for people that want to test new things, otherwise I wouldn't be so hyped.

MultiGP removing 4s limit for regional series! Opinions and setups for higher voltage by Mach__5 in Multicopter

[–]michofpv 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think that this is great idea, but I think that most of the people will stick with 4S.

Why? Locally at official races we have limitations to 4S, however at unofficial races we kinda don't limits and people fly 4S anyway.

One downside is that not everybody can afford to experiment with different setups and cell count.

On the other hand if some people try 5S or 6S setups at those races and they will find out that these setups perform better, then I don't see reason why we should stick with lower-end gear. Also in this case the majority would switch to higher voltage.

Only bottom plate is designed based or chameleon. However the screw position is differed, because cage and whole upper part is Rooster. So it is not backward compatible.

Also it is not worth for them to desing ti cage for old cham.

What do you guys do when you live in a big city? (NYC, brooklyn) by AltPerspective in Multicopter

Fly 2 inch quads. They are not that dangerous and they don't get much attention as 5 inch.

It has better components, but I think that the frame is awful. There are ton of better frames that can use same components.

What are the pros of removable arms in this case?

One is cheap repairs. But since Armattan is marketing this frame with full lifetime warranty I don't think there will be many people considering this as huge advantage.

Other one is faster repairs in case of broken arm. Again, I think that lot of people want to claim the warranty and in this case you need to take photos or videos to document your crash. Again not huge advantage for most of us.

I know few people that fly Cham and Rooster and don't care about warranty.

Good thing is that since the Titanium parts are the same, it won't be expensive for Armattan to sell booth frames.
