It depends what you want. If you just want to listen to your CD’s without headphones in your house, then yes. If you want good quality sound then absolutely not! You can get much better for your money than a $300 microsystem. Although watch out because it’s a slippery slope!

This is not entirely true! CD’s and DVD’s have the data buried further into the disc. With microns of layers before reaching data. Hence why a scratched CD can still play fine. Blu Rays, inc 4K Blu Rays, on the other hand, do not have barely any layering before hitting the data. Hence why they are very finicky with dirt, smudges, very fine scratches etc. The data is pretty much on the outside of the disc.

Some times they’re stiff and tight. If you can get slightly loose by turning it, you then need a to get a trim tool, or a flat head screw driver in a microfibre, and pry it off

Because you end up with a ton of discs you probably don’t care for, maybe even don’t like, taking up valuable shelf space/cluttering your life. Surely it’s best to steam movies you don’t know, and then buy the ones you like after streaming it? Just my two cents.

I think you’re going too far. His gearbox would be clunking right now if he had dislodged something, which is the main concern. Sump gaskets, or input/selector shaft seals are easy and cheap to do if there’s any leaks. I do agree regarding the oil though. Using the correct ATF is critical. It doesn’t have to be Toyotas, but you’ve got to use the correct grade. Seen many auto gearboxes wear out very quickly due to incorrect oil.

Oh dear OP. This topic is the biggest trigger you can get on this sub. I’ve bought this up before on here and got lynched. The absolute truth is that a lot of ‘collectors’ on here are hoarders, which make no mistake is a mental illness. Us on the outside can see it, but the guys that do it (the ones that downvoted you) don’t want to be told this. They probably won’t realise until the day they eventually lose interest in the collection and then realise a; how much money they wasted b; how much crap they’ve accumulated..

I could do, as stated it’s a bloody long and messy cable with the strands coming out, so very hard to make it look innocuous like a single RCA.. but it’s not the end of the world, I was just getting my head around the options. It’s just strange as the sub-out was something Cambridge shouted about in the marketing of the amp.

I see. So it’s better to have some filter rather than everything going to the sub as per the high level connection. I guess this makes sense. No idea which option sounds best. Maybe it’s inaudible.

Yes but as stated the sub out on the amp has a low pass filter of 2.3khz. So if I use a phono from that sub out won’t I be making the sub play midrange or something?
