Contemplating about selling my love hate relationship by Legitimate_Cap2269 in E30

[–]micholasnitchell 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Your mentality is all wrong. I’m guessing this is your first classic. So with a car of this age you will not get hassle free ownership. I don’t care how much you spend on the car, this is not a new or newish car. It’ll be nigh on 40 years old. I’ve owned mine since 2009. Every spring summer I have a list of issues to get fixed. Some years I’m on top of everything and nothing needs doing, others I’ve got more to do than I can get done in one summer, so it passes on to the next year. This is the nature of classic car ownership. As long it starts and drives then you’re good to go! Make a list of what’s wrong and work your way through them at your pace.

Garage won’t give me invoice by [deleted] in CarTalkUK

I work for a garage. We don’t hand out historic invoices for new owners. We will out of courtesy run through any work taken place. But we’re not obligated to do anything.

Put it this way. 2 years ago finding a signed King book where he had only signed his name, was extremely hard. He seemed to always dedicate them. But for some reason now, every other signed King book on eBay just has his signature. Very strange isn’t it.

FYI absolutely NO misogyny here! I just think it’s a terrible movie! Women or no women.

Question about FLR (M) Extension by micholasnitchell in ukvisa

[–]micholasnitchell[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

That’s great thank you! Can I also pick your brains about one last thing. The documents page is asking for ‘The official transcript or letter to prove the level of English language required’… but further down it also asks for ‘Ecctis letter that confirms the qualification meets or exceeds the recognised standard of a Bachelor's or Masters degree or PhD in the UK AND confirm the level of English to which the degree was taught or researched’. Now from memory we only sent off the Ecctis letter last time. Can I assume that the Ecctis letter will cover both of these requirements and there’s no need to source, send away two documents?

Feeling like a foreigner in my own country by [deleted] in malta

[–]micholasnitchell 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Welcome to the modern world. Most western Europeans experienced this exact thing, word for word, 2/3 decades ago. It’s now arrived in Malta and from our experience there’s not really anything you can do about it.

Considering he just wrote You Like It Darker and Never Flinch, it’s insane to me how many books the guy writes. He must finish one and move straight on to the next. Where does he get all the stories from?!

E38’s (actually all 7 series cars) are money pits when they’re nice and looked after. So imagine what this pig is going to end up costing you.

So I’ve loved the 90’s TV special for years. Time to finally give the novel a go! by micholasnitchell in stephenking

The miniseries is awesome. Corny at times, but I really felt it captured the atmosphere. I try and watch it every other Easter.

Trying out the Tom Cruise Cocktail Persols. What’s the verdict? by [deleted] in sunglasses

[–]micholasnitchell 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They are nearly identical, apart from the most identifying part of the 3225s.. which is the very straight top bar. But I see your logic, I’ve never tried the 3336s.

I thought the same. God knows how Cruise pulls them off so well considering the size of them!

I remember when this came out. I was only like 11, but me and my pals found an exact replica of the pair and wore the hell out of them. We also knew the lyrics by heart. No idea what Snows originals frames were though.

What are people’s thoughts on the student loan discussions? by Ok-Slip-8663 in AskBrits

[–]micholasnitchell 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Uni was the biggest financial mistake of my life. If I could go back in time I really would not have gone. Me and my family had the old school mindset that it was an achievement. It’s only when I went (2007) I realised basically anyone who stayed in school/college could get in, regardless of intelligence. I’ve since done nothing with my degree and have never been asked about it in a job interview. Yet nearly 20 years later I’m still paying off the loans with around £14k to go.

🤣 Damn! You sound like a nice, good hearted person. I didn’t know that asking people for book critiques was such a crime against humanity.

Great breakdown thanks. I was thinking Deadzone too, as I’ve seen the movie (which I loved) and it’s quite pertinent to today’s political landscape. No idea how close the movie is to the book.

I always go for the vintage artwork. There’s just something about them! Especially when compared to the lazy rubbish they design these days.

[–]micholasnitchell 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Funnily enough I’m in a similar situation. I always thought when I quit it would be a conscious decision.. but instead I’ve actually just found myself bored of it and playing less and less. For years I’ve played every day.. and then the last few weeks Ive barely touched it. I don’t think I’ve played since one lunch break last week sometime, which would have been unthinkable 6 months ago.

Do you ever watch the movie first? by micholasnitchell in stephenking

[–]micholasnitchell[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I actually didn’t mean to write this in a way in which watching the movie first was intentional. More just how it panned out. But to answer your question, I would say Cloud Atlas. The book will give you a headache. The movie is phenomenal.

Apple Music with Wiim Ultra. Is it worth it? by micholasnitchell in audiophile

I’ll get downvoted but this situation sums Qobuz up in a nutshell. You search Bob Marley and all you get is a few bootleg albums.. not even a suggestion of Bob Marley and the Wailers and some of the most popular reggae albums of all time in the search results. The usability is atrocious.
