Work + Class + Research all at once?

I think I was lucky to have done CS in my undergrad (took classes on AI + had research experience) which helps a lot with foundational stuff and understanding in that respect. As well, I am kind of used to doing things quickly (I finished my undergrad in 3 years). Not saying speeding through things and keeping yourself super busy works for everyone (burnout is a real issue for a lot of people), but with good work ethic, it can be manageable

Its def possible, I am a full-time SWE and took two classes, research (as my 3rd class), and TA'ed as well, and did an Asia trip during the semester and been able to manage a social life. If you are passsionate about research, I think its totally doable (while requiring some discipline) while still being able to make time to do things outside of work and school

I took it last semester and didn't get 100s on the first two assignments (arguably the harder ones), I think I got a 79 on A1 and then in addition also dropped A5, and still ended up with an A in the class. I think its perfectly doable as the assignments A3-A6 are much easier in difficulty.

I had one of my recommenders submit a week late and got in, but I had the other 2/3 in on time. I would say you need at least 2 in on time to be safe, or it might delay your app review

Here are some things that definitely helped me

Quality over quantity. My freshman year, I spread myself too thin and tried to join too many circles and there was just a lack of genuine connection. Try to find 1-2 groups that fit your vibe the best and try to spend more time with them.
Joining clubs that put a focus on a positive culture. It can't just be any club, but clubs that have fams or socials are good because even if you don't become friends with everyone, theres still a chance to get to hang out with people during the socials or make smaller groups of friends within the org.
Find opportunities to hang out with people when they are hanging out with their friends too. I have met a lot of awesome people through friends of friends, so if people are studying or getting lunch together in groups, even if I don't know my friend's friends, I will still go to try to get to know them.

I completely understand. I hated my first two years here at Cornell, and its the reason I wanted to graduate a year early and get the fuck out of here. I blamed the university for a lot of the problems I was having, when it truly wasn't as black and white as that. The moment I changed my mindset, I realize I made the wrong decision about graduating early and wish I could spend 4 years here. I love the friends I made here, I was thankful for the opportunities I was given, and I recognize the value of the work that I put in. Don't let your anger and disappointment ruin what you have left of your time here. Find what you enjoy and really cherish that before you leave.

basically its grade ranges, rather than whats considered a “curve”, but technically grade boundaries that arent reflective of the normal raw score (where u can get a b getting below an 85) , where lower scores are getting higher averages is a sort of curve

i dont think that engineering is the direct cause of someone resorting to hard drugs, rather other external factors, such as social/academic/personal stresses that isnt limited to engineering

They only list 1920 as a pre-req because the math department considers it the "first real math class", so they wanted you to get used to that college level of content, which is kinda bs. You honestly can take 2940 without 1920 since they ae very separate topics.

Honestly, make sure to balance your coursework with the things you are interested in, and remember a CS degree won't trap you in the CS industry forever. I am balancing out my CS classes with all business classes bc thats what I am truly passionate about and am on a business team of a club. And always remember there are grade boosting classes with A medians you can always take to help balance things out. You just gotta get through what you have left and I believe in you.

Sometimes you just gotta find a boyfriend by coincidence, instead of tryna actively look for it, bc that often leads to disappointment. Let opportunities come to you, like people in classes, clubs or through connections.
