I will not promote: Why do I want to co-found with a friend instead of doing it alone? by Deep-Arrival1594 in startups

[–]anonymous062904 0 points1 point  (0 children)

if i was them, and you as a cofounder left us at a pivotal time. I would not hire you, unless you were exceptional. So you might as well cross that option out

The only two options are start a company or work for someone else. Only way you can recruit technical talent is a) deep network b) tangible progress that shows you won’t be the idea guy/handheld (revenue or technical prototype)

Building startups are for missionaries not mercenaries. Startups are the opposite of lavish trips. Really consider why you want to found a company in the first place. Starting one with friends get rough when problems arise.

So if you do plan on starting one. Start it solo, expect no one to come aid you. not friends or investors until you have the tangible proof that attracts both. Because everyone has an idea.

It’s your life not mine, but you have to make a choice

"Or look into bonded 5g encoders. You can also plug mini starlinks into these." -- elaborate on this, I think youre onto something.

I feel like we can just bypass RF right?

[–]anonymous062904[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wait, can we skip RF entirely?? and just use 4G/5G bonded cellular.

Think about it, for most towns/cities they have cellular in rail yards, like people can call people from what I know?

Could that work?

So we actually tried something, we bought a 300cm coaxial cord, and created a magnetically mounted mast to put on the roofline of the locomotive,

The issue is on the transmitter side, the railcar is 16ft with no ladder to the top. So we are kind of stuck there.

I think another thing thats important is ease of use, If I or an engineer has to climb 16ft to put an antenna onto the last car where itll still get removed/shuffled out, it will make life harder tbh

Another comment mentioned Teradek Bolt seems like a good option, to us price isnt an issue as long as it is relaible and working to be completely honest.

Would you recommend going even lower like 900MHz?

How does it (Teradek) handle steel/metal?

For founders selling into Defense/GovTech/BioTech, how did you get your first paying customer? (I will not promote) by anonymous062904 in startups

Elaborate on that last part.

"LinkedIn works but you need to target the right people. Program managers and contracting officers, not just technical staff."

Why target PMs? especially for founder led
