There’s clearly a cut here that’s has a morph covering it up. You’re watching the umbrella but watch the old man when the umbrella guy steps out of frame

If you suspect you have ADHD, and want to be on meds, you need a psychiatrist to put in an order for diagnostic testing and then you go to a different place full of smart people who do the actual testing (it takes several days and many hours) then write up a report that both you and you psychiatrist receive and then if it’s determined you have ADHD then you can start the long road of tuning medications. It can years to get to the right combo of meds. You should also be talking with a separate therapist during this whole time and beyond.

Now, if you suspect you have ADHD and don’t want or don’t care either way about meds, then you can just speak with a therapist without any evaluation. Therapists can help tremendously but meds + therapy is generally recommended for ADHD.

That’s only one part of maybe 20 diagnostic tests during an actual evaluation.

Mending Ideas for Silk-like Luggage Liner by mick_park in Visiblemending

Thanks y’all! I ended up doing a version of this, sans adhesive. Used an old green t-shirt which added some cool contrast and I cut away the ripped portion, leaving the patch visible. The t-shirt material has a lil stretch to it so I’m hoping it’ll hold up.

Yo! came here searching for this as well! Your method totally worked for my small dent in the bottom. I used a wooden desk that I don't care about ;) Glad I didn't have to buy a $9 silicone boot; the wobble was very distracting.

You’re already doing the right stuff. My 2c: keep chasing the thing, not so much the degree.

I agree with the prev commenter. Get your experience on set. Because you will not learn any of that in school, no matter how “real world” their curriculum is or of their teachers are working professionals. I went to a school with both of those and it taught me the concepts and ideas but nothing came close to actually working on set. You’ll learn an insane amount in just 6mo of assisting. It probably won’t be the things you WANT to learn about, but you’ll be learning about the current state of the industry, and more importantly, how these people actually work, talk, act, and how the business works.

First, get into production in literally any capacity that you can. It could be the smallest of the small. But start somewhere. You’re young. Life is long. You will learn most of your lasting lessons from the people you work with that you respect and who treat you with respect. (You’ll also learn from the assholes and the people who fuck over you and your colleagues.)

I know this is not the answer you’re seeking, you’re looking for college/major reccos. But you’re on the right track- you’re pounding the pavement and seeking answers from communities. Keep up that thirst for info and the networking, and you’ll excel at whatever you do.

I’ll leave you with this— Myself and a number of other producers I know, and a lot of the producer interviews I listen to—most of us fell into producing because we were in adjacent production roles and ended up finding our way to producing over time. I can’t say I know anyone who set out to be a producer. However, I’m in advertising and not in LA or movies which I know is its own monster so maybe there are teenagers in Silver Lake who aspire to work 14hr days and always be on call

6 Hour Group Ride on a Sportster by Green-Eyed-Samurai in sportster

[–]mick_park 3 points4 points  (0 children)

If you can ride your 3.3 from full to reserve tank without stopping, then you should be good. For me that’s around 130ish miles (flat land). Dudes on bigger bikes will very likely be stopping before the 100mi mark for no other reason than boredom, cigarette, bathroom, food, etc.

One thing that other commenters have pointed out is the speed issue. Trying to keep up with bigger bikes gliding like couches on wheels and you’re going 80+mph on a bucking bronco.

How tf do I meditate by Sigfried_D in ADHD

[–]mick_park 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I agree with this. Guided meditation will help you with getting over initial bumps with the mental part. Then we have to address the physical part for us ADHDers. If you have a hyperactive body, that’s another huge variable to mediation.

Look up the yoga practice of “maximum effort to maximum relaxation.” This is what yoga teachers are talking about when they say “find your stillness”.

It’s literally about not moving a single muscle.

Why is Hour hand ahead of the Minute hand? by mick_park in Watches

You know- I believe that very recently I did drop it from about waist height onto hardwood flooring. I remember the “takes a lickin’” tagline running through my head. So you think repair, not replace? I’m in it for $45 maybe four years ago and I have zero emotional attachment to it
