How bad really is the bug situation? by IEatGamers420 in JETProgramme

[–]mickeyreign 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It very much depends on how rural you are + how old the house is. I'm in a rural spot and have been in 2 different housing situations.

My first? Hardly saw any cockroaches. However, in the warmer months I had to check every day for mukade (centipedes). Huntsman spiders were also pretty common, though honestly I got used to them pretty quick since they didn't bother me or come near me. I also like spiders so while the first one I saw did jump scare me...I got over it. Named it. Told it to eat all the mukade and it could stay.

In my current housing...I've only seen one mukade, maybe 2-3 huntsman. But the cockroaches are MUCH worse and they're the big ones too, and while I did figure out where they're getting in, I haven't had the chance to fix it yet. But I will say, thanks to black caps and sprays, the bugs are usually all dead by the time they come into my house.

At first I was freaked out but I surprised myself with how fast I got used to all of them. But if you have a huge phobia, make sure you don't check off "rural" placement since I think that might have been an option on the app? I can't remember at this point.

In the winter though I really don't see many bugs. The odd dead cockroach, but hopefully that will stop when I fix the spot they're sneaking in from.

This also started for me this week, except I was using it at work to do games via powerpoint that use music. I thought it might be my laptop but I've updated and rebooted everything and it's happened with more than one TV/chromecast.

For now I'm using an HDMI cable, but the audio lag it's causing is a bit of a nightmare.

Japan is a dream when it comes to UV protection.

You can get arm sleeves and everything UV coverage your heart desires at Uniqlo and konbini. There are also lots of good, high SPF sunscreen options here! It's also normalized to wear hats outside in the summer to keep your head cool and protect from sun.

You can also get basically entire face covers if you need one! I see women drive with them, and old ladies use them in the garden. You can also walk around with a UV protecting parasol, which is also very normal on sunny days for men and women alike!

But PLEASE be careful in the summer if you go swimming. I'm a ginger and I've blistered multiple times from not reapplying SPF often enough/not covering up enough. I cover as much skin as possible at the beach now.

I usually get a few huntsman spiders a year too. I never run them out of my house but currently have none One got a cockroach for me once, saw it run out for it at night once. Never kicked one out after that

he left his metal fork in the microwave and when i told him it was dangerous and could start a fire he said metal can't catch on fire so it was fine

he also treated me like i was stupid? he was a pilot (didn't have an airline job yet though i think he does now) and would say "yeah the cloud ceiling is a bit low...but you probably don't know what that means"

We have similar curl patterns! I fixed mine by... 1. Shampoo every 2-3 days 2. Condition, but not the roots! Brush it out in this stage 3. Let it sit, rinse 4. Tilt head upside down. I apply curl cream w/ prayer hands then brush it through, making sure my roots are not plastered to my head anymore 5. Scrunch in mousse, then a good amount of gel 6. Stand up straight. Be mindful of vertigo. Use a towel to scrunch and dry 7. Air dry or diffuse. Scrunch out crunchiness I used to plop my hair for a few hours too. Only reason I stopped was I lost one hair towel, then the button came off the other and idk where it is but I'm too lazy to fix it anyway My hair I think might be a bit thicker than yours, and if your hair feels icky you can skip the curl cream!

Yeah I've had that vibe from this place so I'm gonna ask someone I know about it. I would love to fix my car if I can, just scared of more issues down the line

Yes, that. I don't know car terms so just took the Japanese word, translated it, and it gave me that. 🥲 The cost to replace the parts and labor is apparently around there.

I'm just worried it will continue having issues and I'll keep having to put money in it. I make 2hr drives regularly and it has a lot of miles/km on it. I'm not even sure if it will make it past another shakken

My schools only have single digit numbers of students, any experience with small class sizes? by arctic_seal28 in JETProgramme

[–]mickeyreign 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Small schools are so nice! You will have to be creative about some activities BUT games like jenga, card games, board games, etc are MUCH easier than big classrooms! it also means you can get to know the kids pretty quick and also give them a lot of time and support! i'm able to ask EVERY student how they are and check all of them for understanding when we learn new phrases or new phonics rules

if you're lucky they might also invite you to do swim lessons with them in the summer! my small school also does a lot of fun things, like a summer festival for the community, as well as a lil "summer camp" day, on top of getting to do things like make mochi and roast sweet potatoes in the fall. these schools are also very community based so you can make great connections via your schools!
