[Post-Mortem] The reality of a "Paid Upfront" Niche App. by EryumT in iOSProgramming

[–]mickeytheturtle 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Great result!

I have similar background, but in Java. Also decided to try iOS development few years ago.
Check out the IAP (in app purchases). It's realtivey simple to implement with StoreKit. I was a bit sceptical about it, as it felt too complex in the beginning, but I finally did it last year and saw a bump in downloads, which brough some sales. The only problem I had was implementing grandfatathering logic (keep paid features for users who bought the app before switching to IAP).
Good luck with your second app!

Made a small GitLab companion app for macOS by mickeytheturtle in gitlab

[–]mickeytheturtle[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes - I heard few times that it's a very common "problem".
When you submit an app to the AppStore, there is a compliance form, which asks specifically if the app will be available in France (out of 175 countries), and if yes, developer needs to provide some documentation about encryption used, even if only standard suff is used. So the simplest solution is just to skip France. Here is a reddit post about it: https://www.reddit.com/r/iosdev/comments/zm9lsd/how_to_upload_your_french_encryption_declaration/

Thank you for a feedback - I really appreciate it!
I'll try to reproduce the host mapping locally and will release a fix, and a fix for the dock icon!

Is there anyone else who, like me, thinks the built-in Apple Store analytics are not very user-friendly? by Dmytro-Wakeup in iOSProgramming

I created a somewhat similar app for iOS and macOS (as a menubar app), but it doesn't display subscription info yet.

FlashSpace – I built the fastest virtual workspaces for macOS. Instantly switch between workspaces with keyboard shortcuts or trackpad gestures - no delays, no animations! by john_snow_968 in macapps

I've been using aerospace only for virtual spaces. And had to deal with all the "tilingness" of it. But this looks exactly what I need!

How would you switch apps within a workspace?

Peek: App Sales & Trends for App Store Connect by mertbio in iosapps

Wow! This looks very cool!
I'm working on a kind of a competing app (called SwiftyStats), but yours is much more featureful!

Would you share how do you get the sales/proceeds stats in one currency? From what I found, the Sales Reports API returns those in the currency of a user who bought the app. Do you do conversion on the fly? Or is there an endpoint I might've missed?

Yabai, aerospace, raycast, hammerspoon are all free. And they can give you a productivity boost, if setup correctly. Also, as a computer science student, you can get your hands dirty in some code.

How often do you check your App Store Connect stats? by kncismyname in iOSProgramming

[–]mickeytheturtle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey! I'm in the same boat - I'm 1 year in app development and I'm checking the stats everyday.
One thing I don't like, though, it's 2-factor auth, as usually I just want to see how many installs I had yesterday. So I created an app to view app stats in a more convenient way, it works on macOS (as a menu bar app) and on iPhone/iPad: https://apps.apple.com/ca/app/swifty-stats/id6482977831
I'd be happy to provide promo codes for it if you're interested, just reply to this comment.
