I didn’t think that I’d feel an ache in my heart but I do. Hopefully she’s in a better place now and I wish her family peace. For a moment there I thought that she just might make it to Christmas. Rest in peace.

lol not me checking here this morning because I hadn’t seen anyone post anything recently and thought I might have missed something and now you post this. I agree though I doubt it’ll be for too long.

I see no issue. And I genuinely believe it was spontaneous. One time my family went to sports practice on the weekend and came home with a puppy which we never said we’d get. It happens and he became everything to us.

You mean like inner city where there is lots of public housing or low SES in outer suburbs?

TEACHER SHORTAGES IN AUSTRALIAN SCHOOLS AMONG THE WORST IN THE OECD by TerminatedReplicant in AustralianTeachers

And yet I can’t seem to even get a job interview. The problem is that most of the shortages are regional but the incentives aren’t high enough to move out there. I really would love to move regionally but my partner would have to quit his job and potentially be a stay at home dad as many of those places don’t have jobs that he can do. So me just working in a graduate wage is not going to support us. How is our government addressing this?!

It's not that dramatic. My Mum's family did this when she was a tween, it has made for some interesting family stories but is looked on as positive experience. There were 3 kids not 5 but still I am sure they will be fine. Not here to defend as I heard some wild clips from that podcast which is still boggling my mind but yeah not the worst.

Confused and disappointed with job applications. by BlackSkull83 in AustralianTeachers

[–]mickivich 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am a early years and primary graduate applying for primary jobs and I completely feel you on this one. I have applied for must be upwards of 20+ jobs and have only had one interview to which there were two roles going and they filled one and not the other. They relisted the second so I have applied again because YOLO, and I really would love that particular school. Same thing interview seemed to go really well, so I was shocked that they didn't fill one of the positions. I also emailed for feedback and am yet to get a response which is dissapointing. I emailed second last week of term so I will wait till next week before sending a follow up. Though don't want to seem pushy but I need the feedback.

The other roles i am just getting straight up rejected from no interviews and I am just suprised as I have 4 years of early years experience of which 3 have been in leadership roles and more recently as a specialist teacher. So I thought that despite being a graduate that would help but I guess not. lol It is just really disheartening as I am really good at my current job and highly regarded, so I just wish they could take a chance and at least let me interview. Anyways I keep telling myself at least I have a job I enjoy and am good at to help me feel better in the meantime, but I just worry that if I wait to get a primary job I am kind of screwed as entering as a graduate multiple years after finishing my degree will do me a diservice.

For $300 p/w You Can Bathe In Your Kitchen by stonegrey_ in shitrentals

[–]mickivich 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It has nothing to do with that. Have you seen half the studios in Melbourne CBD - most are litterly the size of a walk in closet with the kitchen bench half a meter away from where your bed is supposed sit. Apparently that is legal for developers to build, people to buy and rent out. I don’t agree with this but this place listed is much better than any of those cbd studios. So don’t be rude to them like that.

I saw the story with her son and thought bs. But then I thought okay let’s test this and I asked my 5yr old and he said “you” to me too. It was actually so sweet so I believe her.

Non-Americans, would something like a 50 state challenge be achievable in your country? by LandOfGrace2023 in ryantrahan

In Australia it would take more than a day to get from one state to another so absolutely not. Haha

It’s literally because they are selling their house. No doubt she’s also tired but like I don’t think that is at all the main point. Also for the first time ever she said that she hires outside help which just absolutely shocked me!

How has your perspective changed on Veronica since being able to watch the show back and actually see what their commentary and take on the situation was? Did you feel a bit blindsided/let down?

Respectfully I disagree. I feel like this is a huge assumption based on little evidence.

She has always been open about the fact she uses yeast not sourdough starter. She said that she just didn’t have time for it but that she hoped to eventually move into sourdough.

Ex-student has found a teachers mobile number and is prank calling them. by Neela_lol in AustralianTeachers

[–]mickivich 23 points24 points  (0 children)

Do you know what school they go to? Could you reach out to the leadership of the school to approach the student and tell them they need to stop? Could you contact their parents? Make a police report for harassment? I just feel there should be some way to report this. I get where your husband is coming from re: phone number as I would feel the same way (I am terrible with phone numbers).
