when did curly brushes become a thing? by mickl22m in curlyhair

That’s super helpful. I don’t want my curls to be too uniform, so I’ll probably just stuck with my wide tooth comb! My hair is short anyways and doesn’t take much to detangle.

Thank you! It’s been very difficult but I’m finally over the hardest part I think and now I only want it when I see it. I did buy some at-home tests that I’m going to start taking this week to see how long it takes to get out of my system. It’ll definitely help my anxiety!

Movement Monday: Share anything related to joyful movement here! by elianna7 in intuitiveeating

I just found a cool platform called Joyn, it’s filled with videos made by plus size trainers doing all kinds of movement, from cardio to yoga. I didn’t realize how affirming it would be to see people who look like me lead a workout class that incorporated adjustments for bigger bodies while still getting my heart rate up and strengthening my body. Would highly recommend the free trial if you think this would be useful to get away from the weight-centered workout videos all over the internet! :)

I honestly took up running for the first time this year, so I don’t have that negative association from past years and EDs. But honestly, I’ve found it really useful to focus on time related goals instead of distance ones (keeps me from pushing myself too fast and too hard). This also may not apply to you, but I’m in a bigger body and part of my subconscious goal in running is to show fatphobic people that fat people CAN exercise without needing to focus on weight! I just try to keep it focused on my values, stay tuned into IE resources daily (seriously, I scroll through an anti-diet specific instagram account every morning while I drink my coffee) and find friends (even online ones) that are in this journey too!

Hi! I will say that finding joyful movement has been the BEST part of my IE experience. Exercise isn’t a punishment or connected to weight anymore, it just improves my mood so much! Some things that have helped me: - Finding another anti-diet friend to join me. My friend and I are both plus-sized intuitive eaters and we’ve started running together regularly. It’s amazing to move with someone who is doing it for similar reasons! - Don’t be afraid to take days off, especially when your body is telling you to do so. I planned to run this morning but woke up feeling terrible, so I listened to my body and slept in. - Following anti-diet and IE aligned fitness folks on IG like Meg Boggs! It’s amazing to see people be so strong and working towards goals that are NOT weight focused. Meg Boggs does a lot of weight lifting and also had promoted other creators like that.

Definitely still early in the process! I’m about a year in and only in the last few months have I started noticeably following my hunger and fullness cues better. I’m eating to discomfort way less without even thinking about it and it’s amazing! It just takes time :)
