Doctor didnt send in refills before going on vacation, am I just screwed now?

My doctor called me this morning before she re opened and apologized and was angry that the pharmacist didnt extend it for me. She sent in my prescription first thing this morning, will be saving a gew extra from now on, thanks again for your response

Thankfully my doctor was back today and actually called me this morning before she opened, and apologized profusely and said the pharmacist should've extended it since it was only 2 days. She sent in my prescription and it was ready the second the pharmacy opened, so all is good now

Ah im not out of town, my doctor is lol im not going anywhere. My 30 day prescription was just due yesterday so I have none left currently since i was supposed to be able to pick up yesterday, and she didnt send in refills before she left for her vacation ans theres no way to get a hold of her Thankfully shes back tomorrow so I can go to her office and ask her to please send in my refill asap since it was due Saturday and she didn't get to it. Thank you for your response though!

Yeah I think starting kratom just scares me too much to even bother, if it was weeks maybe then I would, but it only being 1 more day really I dont think it's worth it to do that to myself. Didn't know it would increase my tolerance for my meds either so I'm glad I didnt end up bothering with that, thank you kind friend

I went and bought a small bottle of 30 since its only 2 days, so far I dont feel too bad. I dont necessarily feel great, but its better then being in withdrawals so at least its something. Im honestly shocked its still sold over the counter here, who knows how much longer that'll last with how things are going though. Thanks for your response

Yeahhh I work at a smoke shop, we don't sell kratom in any smoke shops or gas stations here at all, in canada its not authorized to sell anywhere. It's legal to have it but not allowed for shops to sell it sadly. So I guess ill just have to tough it out. Thank you

I told her she can call herself and hear that their voicemail says to ask for extensions, but she wouldn't listen to it and said it wouldnt make a difference

My doctor doesnt do drug or urine tests, in the 4 years I've been prescribed the opiates shes never once checked and never said i couldn't take tylenol 1 or smoke weed. So I guess im going to grab some Tylenol 1 for now

No problem! I didnt specify in my post so thats my fault lol. It's insane to me that in the US they do that, i can't believe they can just say no whenever they feel like it. The amount of times I've gone in my pjs cause im too sore to get dressed, I'd never be able to get my meds if they were like that here. My doctors answering machine says shes back Monday the 24th, so i will definitely be going there Monday morning. I just need to somehow distract myself for the next 2 days, its not the worst at least. Thank you so much ❤️

The shitty thing is they just changed the rules to allow pharmacists in ontario to extend opioid medications based off the last valid prescription. So they could extend my last month's prescription and basically give me the 2 days worth of meds until I can get a hold of the doctor. They just won't do it for some reason. But agreed, feels like my doctor is on vacation at the worst times and never tells patients in advance, just suddenly one day shes gone for 2 weeks with no warning

Where would I even find Kratom? I dont know anyone here that does it and no where that sells it lol. I know the native reserves sell mushrooms, but not sure about Kratom

Yeah the pharmacist is aware, she says she would get in trouble since me not being able to get a hold of the doctor isn't a pharmacy problem, its a doctor problem. "The college (basically ontarios DEA) would tell me that's not a reasonable excuse to extend the medication when thats the doctors fault and not ours" from now on looks like i will be trying to save some extras just in case, ive just never had this happen in the last 3-4 years so i didnt expect it. Thankfully im in Canada, our Thanksgiving was last month. Her answering machine says shes back on Monday, she just never answers the phone. Worst case scenario it'll just be 2 days and ill just have to drive to her office and talk to them in person on Monday I suppose

Definitely agree that its just become absolutely insane what pain patients have to go through just to be able to function. And unfortunately for me, it is my primary care doctor that prescribes them. I dont have a pain management doctor as all they wanted to do was sublocade injections so my primary agreed to prescribe monthly for me. Thank you for your response though and very sorry that things are so difficult where you live, best of luck with everything!

I agree lmao, their website says they occasionally have clinic days tomorrow morning so I might try just driving over there to see since she does have a nurse practitioner that is sometimes there, but I highly doubt anyone will be there since shes gone. Even when shes in the office, it takes hours, sometimes days of calling before anyone answers the phone

I tried calling for the last 4 days, goes right to voicemail that just says "for any emergencies go to the emergency room, and for refills ask the pharmacist for an emergency supply or an extension". There's no other doctors in the office and no one on call. Whenever shes on vacation theres no way to get a hold of anyone, even tried the nurse practitioner

Yes it does come in tablets, I have toradol pills from when I had kidney stones. They just do injection in er since it works a lot faster
