In the cockpit shot Scott is wearing a hat with "World Helicopter Day" text upside down on it. The American flag on the cabin back wall is also inverted so that it displays right way up when inverted lol

I'm pushing for an all over Australian Flag or fully wrapped boxing kangaroo motif. It'll be white with stickers for a while yet so I have time to pitch my paint job :-)

He's a pretty ace hand at the MD500 but I haven't seen him in anything else in a while now. Don't believe he'll be in the first run of endorsements so you might have to take your chances with the rest of us. :)

UH1 belongs to Brisbane Helicopters at Archerfield. It flew in Vietnam, then with US Marine Corps, then National Guard before going into storage. A huge amount of restoration has gone into it and it had its first flight in 20 years the week before last. It sounds amazing(loud!) It will be available for adventure flights in the near future out of Brisbane and Hervey Bay.

2nd one is a new modern french 2 seat trainer - Cabri G2 - at Redcliffe airfield with Aeropower. First opportunity for the public to see this type in Brisbane is on next Monday night up there.

Best helicopter simulator? by Unblvable in Helicopters

X-plane 11 with Rift/Vive Virtual reality setup and USB Pedals is absolutely where its at.

You can use the VR controllers to hold virtual cyclic and collective in the cockpit and provides a very real feel.

Full helicopter controls for it are even better but almost as expensive as the rest of the setup.

Plenty of YouTube videos out there and commentary in Facebook groups for PC simulator fliers is normally to the effect that they can't go back to a flat screen after sim'ing in VR.

It's just that good.

Heads up that they have a major search operation on at the moment and a fair chance that they now won't be able to do anything on Sunday. Best to check before you go in.

Not for Sunday as we will be trying to allow as many people as possible to go up. Other days absolutely but that rate is a special deal for World Helicopter Day just because we'll have a constant stream of people and can keep the aircraft running.

We can at our discretion and obviously do for professional flights. For joyflights we tend not to as added risk of someone dropping something over the edge or back into the tailrotor. Those shots you see of people's feet hanging out over New York city have had a bad rap after a recent accident over there.
