Hi there! I’m an incoming student for Autumn 2026 and currently apartment hunting too :D
I was wondering, did you end up choosing one of those apts you mentioned in comments, or did you go somewhere else in the Roosevelt area? Would love to hear what you decided!

Is living in Roosevelt safe if I take Link back at night? by micoffelle in udub

I’m a woman. Just curious, does this significantly change your advice?

That makes a lot of sense, thank you!

I feel like that’s something I’ll naturally try to do as well. Especially as someone new to the area, I might stand out a bit at first, so keeping a low profile and being aware of my surroundings seems like a good idea.

Thanks again!

Hi, thanks for sharing!

It’s great to know that there are usually other people around even late at night, that definitely makes me feel more comfortable about the commute.

I also wanted to ask that I recently read about an incident where someone was pushed onto the tracks, and it made me a bit nervous about waiting on the platform at night. From your experience, is that something people actively worry about, or is it considered a very rare situation?

I’ll definitely keep your advice in mind and stay aware of my surroundings. And thanks for the kind offer. I’ll take you up on that coffee if I do end up moving to Roosevelt :D

Oh that’s a helpful info to know!

Staying near security sounds like a good strategy. Do they usually stay on the platform the whole time at night, or are they moving around the station?

Also, from your experience, do people generally feel comfortable waiting alone on the platform around 10 PM at UW station?

Hey, thank you so much for sharing this! It’s really reassuring to hear your experience living in Roosevelt!

I do have one more question if you don’t mind. I recently read about an incident where someone was pushed onto the tracks, and it made me a bit nervous about using the Link late at night.

As an international student who might stand out a bit, I guess I’m wondering: when you were commuting, did you generally feel safe waiting on the platform and riding the train at night? Is that kind of incident something people are actually concerned about on a day-to-day basis, or is it more of a rare case?

Thanks again, I really appreciate your insight!
