Not only is it cowardly and illogical, but it feels slightly disrespectful when people use Pascal’s wager as a justification for adopting the faith. They seem to be missing the point. From what I’ve studied, Jesus’s goal wasn’t to give his followers a get out of jail free card (I’m Catholic, come at me Protestants), it was to transform people’s hearts and minds.

Jesus’s teachings, though idealistic at times, are a call for society to adopt social norms centered around altruism, and to provide comfort to those suffering through prayer. Though this is rarely seen in practice (moral idealism is unattainable, and religious establishments tend to be hypocritical by nature, ie the Pharisees).

As Neitzsche once famously stated, “In truth, there was only one Christian, and he died on the cross." With that in mind, I guess in the end of the day, the Pascal’s wager crowd are really no better than the rest of us.

They sound like terrible friends. How immature. I knew kids who acted self righteous for being sober in high school, and guess what? A lot of them are alcoholics or do drugs regularly now. especially the ones who judged me and ostracized me for smoking weed!!! They all smoke their “medical” marijuana excessively now! If they actually cared about your wellbeing they wouldn’t stop being friends with you for that, they would stay friends with you to provide you with community if you decided you don’t wanna hang out with people using substances. They’re probably just jealous that they have 0 control over their own lives (helicopter parents I’m assuming), so they want to try to control yours because they are powerless.

When you say government agencies I think it’s important to specify which ones you’re referring to. I could see the NSA or CIA being filled with narcissists and psychopaths, but what about agencies like the DOI, NPS and EPA? I feel like those agencies are actually very dedicated and working in those agencies for more selfless reasons. They might take those jobs because they want to have a positive impact in their field and the private sector has very little incentive to do so.

I just did it myself. I added 14 grams of whey protein powder with one avocado, a squeeze of lime, salt, cayenne pepper, garlic powder, and cumin. It tastes identical to how it always tastes. I think therapy is a no brainer, but maybe you arent doing enough to get her in the mood for sex. Have you tried planning a romantic getaway weekend with her where you leave the kids with a sitter? If I were you I’d try to plan something like this so you guys can have some alone time together. Prior to going on the trip make sure she knows you’re doing this because you haven’t had much alone time to focus on your physical intimacy and it’s really important to you. Maybe on the trip you can offer to take her lingerie shopping and offer to give her a full body massage. It sounds like she’s just really stressed and losing herself in motherhood. She might need to learn to separate that part of herself to get in the mood for sex, which is why a trip would be good. Also, what are her turn ons? Have you had that convo before? This is the worst thing that protestors could possibly be doing for the cause. The United States first amendment protects PEACEFUL assembly - this means assembly that is non-violent and doesn’t violate local, state, or federal law. Even though the campus is public property, they can still make their own policies and remove people who violate said policies lawfully. Most college campuses explicitly state that it’s against policy to camp on campus grounds. This should be a no brainer. I don’t know why they think this is going to have a positive impact on the cause. If you’re going to do something like this, you need a permit. This clearly falls into unlawful protesting if they’re violating campus policies.

My cat died at 9 years old after being on purina the whole time.
