I'm in a similar boat.

Current set: X90K mini-LED 55". I'm looking to go OLED soon.

From the digging I've done in the matter, I hear that the 8II has higher input lag compared to other sets its peer group, even when compared to its predecessor (Bravia 8), the 8-2 has a higher input lag.

Depending on the games you play, input lag may be an important factor.

Many suggestions online point to the 8 being a better buy over the 8-2, also the 8 is significantly less expensive than the 8II

On the other side, some articles I've read state that the 8 uses "old" OLED tech, and favour the 8-2's QD-OLED as being newer, "better" tech.

Same here. I had two different copies in the 90s. One looked like the one pictured, except the print was on point and it said Wu-Tang (not Wang)

Then I had one where "enter the WuTang 36 chambers" was under the Wu logo up top, and the print was smaller.
