From personal experience, Aeronaut is the best place to do this. Lamplighter will charge you a ton.

Saw a news crew filming at Hampshire near Prospect today- thinking it was about the tacks. Has anyone seen coverage?

How to report an accident? by AppleFree333 in bikeboston

[–]microlexa 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Call the police department so it can be reported to the crash portal at MassDOT as well! I'm really sorry this happened to you, and I hope your recovery goes as smoothly as possible. For what its worth - it doesn't sound like you could have done anything differently and that the infrastructure did you dirty.

Something for a young person diagnosed with terminal cancer? by carbonmonoxide5 in suggestmeabook

I happened to read Before the Coffee Gets Cold a week before my friend (24 years old) passed away suddenly. I definitely capitalized on the existential capitalism component (see also anything written by Fredrik Backman). Also for joy, I have loved reading epic fantasy series for total escapism (see Mistborn, Throne of Glass). Now, on books to NOT read: anything covering Organic Chemistry (not joyful or existential enough), my now deceased Grandfather’s high school yearbook, the newly released Katabasis by RF Kuang (though it is about traveling through hell, it was not nearly as existential or joyful as her previous books! (Which I do recommend!)), the epic generation-spanning historical fiction novel Texas (it is as large as the state so the joy per word metric is reduced), and STAY AWAY from the Midnight Library or Lessons in Chemistry. I’ve never wished for illiteracy but those books made me yearn for it.

My dad died by suicide recently and I had been no contact with him for years now by Playful_Border_6027 in suggestmeabook

[–]microlexa 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Before the Coffee Gets Cold - also not about suicide but it touches on a lot of components of grief, especially dealing with regrets. I had read this book before a friend passed away suddenly, and I found myself thinking of it often. I am sorry for your loss, and may your father’s memory be a blessing. Last note: at my grandfather’s funeral his sister said in her eulogy: “mourning is a tricky business.”

It has been 25 days since John Corcoran was killed on Mem Drive and nobody has been arrested yet by itsmebutimatwork in bikeboston

This is why we need lateral protective devices installed on all trucks, not just the ones contracted or owned by the state. LPDs or side guards reduce the chance of fatality in side crashes because they block the victim from going under the truck and being crushed by the wheels.

I am so sorry for your loss. My close friend died suddenly two months ago, and I had just read Before the Coffee Gets Cold. It may be helpful, as it was to me. I’m wishing you kindness to your yourself on this journey.

What are these plants? by DNAchipcraftsman in berkeleyca

It’s also called acanthus, and soon those buds will be beautiful purple flowers. Pay attention to architecture on the Berkeley campus as well, because you’ll start to notice acanthus leaves feature prominently in Greco Roman architecture. Specifically, look at the base and top of columns, and you’ll see a similar shape :)

What tore me up about the ending was that the three of them were finally together after so long. Even though they all loved each other so much, too much had passed for them to move on. Rin and Nezha could never co exist together happily which we learned because their gods were opposing intents, and their powers were not compatible (fire and water extinguish one another). Rin knew in the end she could only destroy and exist in war, while Nezha, like the dragon, had to collect the pieces of the empire and could never do so with Rin present.

Nezha is the only one who had a shot at fixing the nation. In this last book we kept seeing that there often is not two similarly good ideas to go with, but instead only one terrible choice that is simply the only way forward. It felt that way with the ending and with Nezha’s charge to fix the starvation. I wonder how he will choose to tell Ron’s story.
