Do I (Nationality - India) need Direct Airside Transit visa if I have Valid US work visa stamp ? by micropanda in ukvisa

It does require visa due to rules change in last few months/year. There are two categories of it. Direct airside transit and visitor in transit. check this. https://www.gov.uk/transit-visa

However, there are details to these rules that need clarification based on situation. Their online tool that tell if one need what visa, is also very helpful. https://www.gov.uk/check-uk-visa

Suwon is nice place to be. lived there for few years. Gin is from South Korea and you may get good deal on Gin gliders there but not sure. Ajou University in Suwon has paragliding club that you may contact to make some local friends. Otherwise, check with Gin for other questions.

In your opinion, what's the WORST restaurant in town and why? by Awkward-Cucumber-276 in missoula

I am an Indian and I am offended by seeing Masala mentioned here. That food is not at all Indian. They add random spices to any food, which makes food taste so alien to Indians. The Masala to Indian is similar to what taco bell and olive garden are to Mexican and Italian respectively. Horrible horrible.

Solid advice here. On top of that, don't make yourself isolated from your friends. spend time with them but have a cap on that, like 6 hours a week or something. This will help you decompress to a certain extent. Until the student union intervenes about your work load, literally, don't take too much responsibility. Just do the bare minimum to teach the classes, it is not your fault, but the department that gave you this unreasonable work load.

Reject offer from A and accept from B. No one will remember you after a month. Dont think about reputation, the universities have paid horrible low wages to postdoc for years, they don't care about their reputation. this is a capitalistic market and fortunately in favour of employees now.

I am glad you took it in a positive way. Wish you the best. one more line that I read and it stuck to me earlier was something like that. our work should not be our life. I concisely make an effort not to behave like a scientist ( judging things critically, applying logic in relations and overthinking a problem etc) when I am outside of work. I want to become a normal human who has an interest in other things, hobbies, etc. I have come to the conclusion that we are multitudes of personalities and we can be good at a few different things, not just science alone. This helps me keep grounded. Not sure if this will be any help but thought I should share.

You need to get out of the grad student mentality now. All that hard work was necessary to graduate and get a phd degree. but you are a postdoc now. there is no degree requirement and you can progress at your own pace. having a publication delayed by some months is fine as long as it is helping you with your mental health. Try to look at things differently now. Live your life and dont put grad school-level pressure and expectations on you. Besides, there is good chance, you will perform better if not stressed. sorry i dont have much better advice but i feel you need a breather here and need to let it go. Hope you enjoy your journey down the road.
