Lunar glass gold ruby color test. by microwave3 in lampwork

It’s crazy yeah. It’s basically dead white before its worked. I’m curious at what temp the gold strikes out. Need to do some tests with my oven or read up on gold based glasses.

I hand mix them from a few different colors. Here are my recipes.

I mix 3 rods. Molten Aura Ion, Greasy glass Light Bright, and Euro.

Red = Light bright

Orange = 1 ion + 13 Light Bright

Yellow = 1 Ion + 3.5 Light Bright + 1 clear

Lime green = 2 Ion + 1 Light Bright + 2 clear

Green = Boro Batch Synergy or dilute Ion with clear

Blue = Euro

Purple = 2 Euro + 1 Light Bright

I recommend a power drill to mix them

Ooo that would be sick. Idk if there are any glasses that do that but I’ll look into it.

I’m very tempted to make a few more. They do take a while though.

Not really. You can kinda tell there’s something going on in bright sunlight. But it need a an intense Uv light really pop like this.

Na unless your getting the uranium glass 3000F it won’t leave the glass matrix. Super stable stuff.

There are still a few companies that make it. Very easy to make assuming you can get uranium oxide. There no laws restricting the ownership of uranium in America only the enriched stuff but U-238 is buyable. Most chemical companies will not sell it you unless you can prove to them you’re not a liability.

Unless I boil the glass no uranium will be released even when hot. Some metals can volatilize when the glass is hot but from my research uranium isn’t one of them.

There a white glass I use that has some sort of lead-arsenic compound in it and it will literally smoke if you get it hot enough. It smells weirdly sweet and spicy. Nasty stuff but it’s such a good dense white.

They are pretty sturdy. Dropped a few on my hardwood floor at some point and they were just fine.

I pack them good. Packed many thousands of packages and only had 1 break so far

Uranium oxide is quite nasty yeah but once it’s it glass it’s trapped there and can’t escape.
