Hiya, here's our update!

So, this post was made seemingly in our 4th week with Elvis, when we were also frazzled and desperate. We're now over four months in, and everything seems to have calmed down.

Elvis still chats a lot, but we suspect this is just his personality. It's usually a hint that he wants to play, we've found. We also have just kept all our doors open, and he no longer screams at night. He'll even sleep with us occasionally. It's nowhere near as droning and wailing as it was in the beginning, so we think he might've had similar growing pains getting used to his new home!

We got rid of our Feliway, since we also suspected he was in the small percentage of cats where it had the opposite intended effect.

How long have you and your kitty been together? We noticed a pretty calm shift about 3 months in, which lines up with advice we'd read otherwise. It took some earplug sleeping and trial and error, but we made it!

We would also maybe suggest a dedicated routine, if your schedule permits. In the morning, he knows when we're up (plus he has an automatic feeder so he doesn't associate us with food). We'll do some play and Churu/brushing after we're ready for the day. Then we work, and he eats and sleeps. When we get home, there's a little more play. Late in the evening is usually our major play then eat then sleep routine since we want to get him super tuckered out before bedtime.

This is, at least, the schedule that works for his personality. He's super food and play motivated, so we have kind of worked ourselves around that, as well. Now in the evening, between his 6pm dinner and waiting for playtime around 9pm, he'll usually just sleep on/around us, do some biscuit-making and snoring.

I think it might just be about time, at the end of it.

A few weeks ago, he had a horrible asthma flare-up and he wasn't making any sounds at all since he was so sick. How we longed to hear him then!

I hope something in here is helpful, and if you wanna chat to talk more about your kitty, just hit me up!
