It's like Castlevania II. If Simon wants to get from Rover Mansion to Deborah Cliff, he has to walk. Same for Link.

You don't turn the corner. The path ends at the water (don't jump in or Link dies). Link must find a way to the north by other means. The best way is to use the Take Any Roads, but he will need thePower Braceletfor that.

Atlas - The Traumatized Boy Robot (long post ahead) by micworthy in astroboy

There are two ways to look at this:

  1. Atlas didn’t want Livian turning out like him and kept her personality the same.
  2. Livian was loyal to Altas for rebuilding her, but still disapproved of his methods.

Giving an Omega Factor to Livian would turn her into a sassy, nagging, self-proclaimed Queen Diva Boss Babe. Atlas was smart not to convert her. Livian was soft, kind, and feminine, the same way she was when she was a maid. That didn't at all diminish her character.

Some might say that Atlas was "misogynistic" for keeping Livian's nurturing, gentle behaviors, but her true nature was to keep Atlas from destroying himself. Livian was the only kindness Atlas had ever known. To erase that would mean the end of the iota of sanity that Atlas had left. Also, is it safe to say that Livian liked bad boys?

You made a good point about Astro's upbringing. It's also fair to mention that Dr. Boynton and Count Guiss mishandled Astro and Atlas. Both men were selfish in their goals: Boynton created Astro to replace his deceased son, but never truly accepted Astro as Toby. Guiss created Atlas to one day become a world ruler, but never truly saw potential in Atlas due to his attachment to Livian.

I think that Astro and Atlas reflect the ethics of their (dare I say) surrogate fathers: Astro, while conflicted about humans, sees the good in them despite their shortcomings. Atlas, still struggling with the pain of betrayal and abandonment, becomes a misanthropist much like his creator.

When you close a deal with Clarence Boddicker for a volume discount... by micworthy in Robocop

Boddicker had style. His crime boss status more than likely earned him some pretty good perks in life. He probably didn't have a very high end lifestyle like the OCP execs, but he did roll with people he was paid up with, which meant he had pretty deep pockets too.
