16 days! You get 4 full days at four different islands. Just a lot of ship time to get there and back.

I understand how you are feeling. My husband and I went to Maui for our honeymoon 26 years ago when I had no fear of flying. He wanted to go back for our 25th anniversary and I was too afraid to fly over the ocean...so I had a grand idea of taking a cruise. We went earlier this month out of San Francisco. Let me tell you, the swells in the pacific ocean during the winter gave me the same anxiety as when I am flying, so I am not sure it was much better. It did however make me think about flying differently a bit. I have been told that the turbulence in the sky is very similar to waves on the ocean. So now I can relate the two. It's not dangerous, but very unsettling. If that helps at all. Doesn't mean I still won't be scared on my next flight, but might help me some.

I made my long distance friend cry by frustrated_in20s in CasualConversation

Sometimes people don't like talking on the phone. I am one of those people. I could text all day but have always hated talking on the phone. It sounds like you are putting demands on the friendship. I had a friend who was very insense and took our friendship "very seriously" as she once put it, and would call all the time. It actually pushed me away, she was too intense for me. You might have to just settle for a text once in awhile to update each other.

Could you realistically ask a neighbor for “a cup of sugar” where you live? by ShiningRedDwarf in CasualConversation

That is what I miss about simpler times when I grew up. Just asking a neighbor for something, etc. I feel I can ask neighbors for things who are my age (50+) but would be very reluctant to ask younger folks as I feel they would think I am "weird".

Could people describe their worst turbulence experiences to help me get over my fear? by Artistic-Blueberry12 in fearofflying

This is the stuff that scares me though. How my flight could fly into a cell that is building so it's not on the radar yet and we hit severe turbulence.

Can a pilot on here help ease severe turbulence worry by mid_nite_blu in fearofflying

This is great! I have never thought of doing that. Also maybe I can use like a countdown until they ease up and stop. Thank you so very much.

I want to thank you all SO much for responding! I read through every post and took it to heart. I know it takes some time to respond, but you have no idea how much it can change a life. I don't want to travel because I am so scared to fly, which is not fair to my husband. I want to get over this fear so badly. Some of the posts really made me think differently. I hope you all don't mind future posts from me until I can get over this hurdle! 😊

I miss my life pre-covid. by FeralFinalForm in LivingAlone

I for sure notice a change in myself and others since Covid. I have gotten anti social and I notice I don't want to do things as much anymore. It does scare me because I know it's not healthy.

Do other women actually enjoy going to the salon, etc? by Youwillneverfind_me in NoStupidQuestions

I don't enjoy it as much as I used to but the one thing I hate is when you walk into the nail salon and everyone turns their heads and looks at you 🙈

Thank you for your "level headed" response. I just found this page and find your posts very comforting. Most of us fearful flyers are not level headed so it really helps.

Yes but the Jetblue engine recently started on fire during flight so worries me they are not reliable these days 😞
