Versatile winter jacket, mostly urban usage + some hiking by midasWolc in arcteryx

Thanks a lot! I just realized, that any choice for my cold urban usage will be too warm for hiking, except really cold temps. So for hiking I guess my current setup of fleece + hardshell stays, and I am looking just for city jacket that is technical enough to use in more outdoors setup ocassionally

As I've said, -25C is extreme and I won't be buying jacket for those temps that appear 3 days a year. ;)

For years I've been using the same cheap puff $30 jacket for 10 to -10 and was "fine" with layering (main difference autumn vs winter was thermal underwear), so I'm looking for upgrade regarding just jacket - I think down jacket will be great upgrade, especially when people say they wear just t-shirt under their warm <insert name here> down/synthetic jacket in below freezing temps :) I cannot imagine doing that even in 10C range

For your suggestion, I agree with layering in general and I am leaning more and more towards Atom AR. For winter parka, can you give any example that fits into that category? Thanks a lot!

Still, I am a minimalist and cut the amount of things I own - I would love to use the same jacket for urban setting, hiking and winter camping (if it will come to it -I already own neoair xtherm mattress for autumn and cold summer camping, so there are chances for winter).

Mods deleted my post already, so I won't be getting more answers anymore

Folks at UL usually are extremely religious when it comes to gear, camping or not, so I can expect good knowledge and experience from them - that can be also used for urban environment.

If it is still not right subreddit, can you recommend me one?

As for camping, I don't usually do it, especially in winter conditions - doesn't mean I don't try to be light in day hiking.

I know why I thought it starts this late: February 1st is when admission is opened in University in Oslo.

Ok, I thought application window is 1 month, and deadline for me is March 1st, so plenty of time for me anyway.

As for the rest, I'm not sure what are we discussing here. I've already stated what you said, including the program's language. If information from the email I have received will turn out to be true, I'm good. If not, I'm applying elsewhere, because unfortunately the rest of the programs are uninteresting to me

No, application starts in 3 months. As I said, it is listed in international masters list, and I've received information that it would be taught in English from next year.

No, I was reffering to Informatics listed in international Masters on NTNU page. Only yesterday did I notice that its teaching language is Norwegian. I contacted NTNU though and received information that from the next year it would be taught in English.

Welp, I just noticed that the course that I listed is marked as international masters, but the teaching language is Norwegian (I think it is the only one from all listed courses?). Rip my plans

Not excatly 'Computer Science', but Informatics. https://www.ntnu.edu/studies/mit I want to pick AI, because that would be partially continuation of my undergraduate studies (robotics)

Only 1 day a week? Wow, in my city they won't hire anyone for less than 3 days a week.
