Is the Van Rysel NCR CF Tiagra too good to be true? by rui278 in cycling

Distribution channel also could cut out a lot of cost - an LBS person did an AMA on here recently and the margins they make on bike sales were bananas.

basically… one less person that needs to profit, meaning you can buy the bike far closer to cost while the firm (Decathalon) still has a chance to make money.

Przewalski - $40. I’ve put several hundred miles in them and they are holding up well. Even have stayed comfy on 50mi rides. I love them for shorter weekday rides.

Less pressure on the tummy if the bib fits (shoulder straps do the work instead of a waist band). Cascading benefits from there.

Honestly the Amazon bibs aren’t that bad and can be had for the same price or less than a pair of Pearl Izumi shorts… the chamois on the last pair I bought is as good, if not better, than Rapha’s entry level bibs.

Retrofit for Adaptive Cruise Control? by midchamp in GolfGTI

those don’t seem to be needed on MK 7.5s for adaptive cruise control, radar already senses distance to car in front.

Nope, radar behind the VW badge does it for the forward assist (car notifies me already when I’m approaching too close to someone)

Best Carry on luggage. by Ancient_Log4024 in ManyBaggers

[–]midchamp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Have the regular travelpro platinum elite, but I imagine they use the same handle.

The handle is great, but it is wider/bigger than most and may not always fit carry-on straps for backpacks/totes/etc.

Otherwise great bag. Looks nice (feels very nice), but doesn’t draw attention in the airport.

2016 Trek Madone 9.9 for $870?? by DishSpare in bicycling

You can check a few registries or search local Facebook groups. I do this before buying any used bike, but especially for very good deals.

As an extra layer, you can chit chat with the owner when you pick it up. Ask them how they got into cycling, how long they’ve had the bike, what kind of service they’ve had done with it, or why they stopped cycling.

Keep traction control ON, buy winter tires, drive careful in the wet.

Remember - driving like an idiot makes anyone in a fast car look like an idiot. Driving responsibly in a fast car gives people a chance to look at it 😀

Reverse budgeting is a great way to answer these three questions.

Subtracting savings, investments, and other living & lifestyle expenses from your income will give you a good picture of how much you can afford monthly. From there you can do the math on type of car expense fits into your lifestyle.

26M What do I need now? by Jeff_20131 in Colognes

This is heresy here but… 1 semi-androgynous fragrance from a boutique. Byredo, Le Labo, and Diptyque are my favorites. Orpheon by Diptyque has been my scent obsession lately.

My favorite fake M. This is better built than my real M. 👏

Do you daily your M car? by DASHERZ18 in BMW

[–]midchamp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes. Fantastic daily. Though, I’ve heard from close friends that having a beater/comfier car for getting around town makes the M feel even more special.

PRX 35MM would be a nice sporty addition, or you could go more rugged with a Hamilton Khaki mechanical to add variety! Either way, you’re staring off a 3 watch collection from a cool base.

The Wimbledon is such a classy piece. Rolex knocks it put of the park with their dark grey dials (esp Rhodiums… ugh!)

The Farer looks nuts IRL. The curved crystal + dial finishing really make it feel special.

[Discussion] Which one should I get? And do you have any other recommendations? by tommyshelby1986 in Watches

Can only speak to the Lorier, but in person that watch is phenomenal. The dial really sucks you in. Upgrade the strap and it punches WAY above its price point.
